What happens to the body when you drink cold drinks?
Cold drinks are not an escape from the heat, but a danger. Scientists who conducted many studies came to this conclusion. So, when drinking ice-cold liquid, a sharp temperature difference occurs: it is hot outside, but the food that gets inside is cold. And this is fraught with enormous stress for the body. For him, hypothermia of internal organs is like a threat to life. That's why he does everything he can to prevent it. So, in addition to the consumption of energy reserves, there is a release of bile. Hot by nature, it tries to warm the esophagus, stomach, intestines and kidneys.
The release of bile may be inadequate, resulting in a person getting hypothermia, and then an increase in body temperature and health problems.
Below we will look at the consequences of drinking ice drinks in the heat.
Kvass is the head of everything
Let's start with the most famous - kvass. You may have forgotten the actual recipe and prefer store-bought soda. Or maybe they didn’t realize that it’s quite possible to make delicious kvass yourself. Before answering the question of how to make a drink, you need to make sure that you have some of the ingredients that make up kvass:
- half a loaf of bread, naturally, to make the kvass more “flavored” and beautiful, you need rye bread;
- half a pack of dry yeast;
- three liters of boiled water;
- one hundred twenty-five grams of sugar;
- raisins (a handful).
How to cool off in the summer then?
You can cope with discomfort during the summer heat with the same drinks. Only their temperature should be at room temperature. And, as strange as it may sound, hot tea helps get rid of thirst, especially if it has spices. This idea has actively broken into large cities. And it is not surprising, because it is in megacities that people suffer most from the stuffiness and consequences of hot asphalt.
Hot tea is used to cool people on such hot continents as Africa and Central Asia. Various spices are also added to this drink. The most popular thirst-quenching teas are ginger and masala.
Due to the high temperature and spiciness of a hot drink, sweat is released more actively. But it serves as a natural coolant for the body. And the higher the temperature of the tea, the better the effect. Fruits and vegetables also help quench your thirst. After all, they contain a lot of life-giving moisture. Grain products are no less beneficial for the body, since they retain heat.
We hope that the above information will make you think about the risks associated with greedily drinking cold drinks in the heat, and you will choose exactly what will help you quench your thirst, cool down properly and feel comfortable.
Cooking method
A detailed description of how to make a homemade drink, in case this is your first time making it.
The first step to preparing a kvass drink is preparing the bread. Toast the rye loaf pieces in the oven. This is done without using oil. Simply place the prepared bread on a baking sheet and place in the oven until it is toasted and browned. Some even allow the bread slices to burn slightly. It is believed that this technique will make the drink even more interesting.
When the crusts have cooled, we begin filling the container. To do this, you need to take a three-liter jar. If you don’t have jars of this size on your household, it doesn’t matter. An enamel pan will do just fine. Place crusts of bread on the bottom of the dish and pour boiling water over them and wait until the water temperature drops to 38 °C. This is necessary so that the yeast does not “cook” in too hot water.
When the liquid has cooled to a temperature slightly hotter than fresh milk, add yeast and half the amount of sugar to the future kvass. It is better to first dissolve these ingredients in a glass of warm water. Cover the jar with the drink and leave it in a warm place for two days. It is not recommended to place it in the sun.
After two days, you need to strain the resulting kvass, then add the remaining sugar and a handful of washed raisins. Pour the kvass into plastic bottles (make sure there are raisins in each container) and put them in the refrigerator to cool. Now you know how to make a drink that is so famous in our country.
The secret of spicy food lovers
As we have already said, spicy foods have exactly the same effect as hot drinks. In addition, spices such as chili peppers contain a special substance - capsaicin, which is responsible for its heat. Capsaicin also serves as another reason for increased sweating, as it irritates nerve receptors in the oral cavity and digestive tract.
Thus, we can understand why people living in the hot climates of Thailand or South America prefer spicy foods to refreshing cold foods.

Cold tea
And a little more about which drink to make at home is not difficult. For example, tea. Many variations of wonderful iced summer tea have already been invented by inventive housewives.
The refreshing drink “Sea Breeze” based on green tea with the addition of lime and aromatic green apple will not leave you indifferent.
And here is the list of ingredients:
- three bags of green tea;
- a bunch of fresh mint;
- one to three tablespoons of sugar, the sweetness level of the drink can be adjusted by adding less or more sugar;
- one green apple - medium;
- half a lime, you can replace the lime with lemon, but the taste and aroma will then become a little less rich;
- boiling water - one and a half liters.
We will need:
- 400 g cream (fat content 20%)
- 2 tbsp. vanilla sugar
- 1 tbsp. instant coffee (you can take a bar of dark chocolate)
- 4 eggs (yolks)
- 1 can of condensed milk (standard)
- 0.5 liters of good vodka (the quality of the vodka determines what kind of liqueur you will get)
- (if you take whiskey instead of vodka, you will get what you need - real Irish liqueur)
Preparation
First you need to separate the yolks from the whites. It is advisable to take fresher eggs.
If you want the drink to have a richer chocolate color, you can boil the condensed milk for about 30 minutes, but you don’t have to do this, the taste will be almost the same.
Pour condensed milk, yolks, vanilla sugar, coffee or softened chocolate into a glass bowl (if you make it with chocolate, use black) and mix with a mixer.
Then we begin to pour in the cream and continue whipping. If the cream is too fatty, then dilute it a little with milk, otherwise the liqueur will be too thick. Do not be alarmed if the coffee is not completely dissolved; after adding vodka and subsequent whisking, there will be no lumps left.
Now all that remains is to pour in vodka or whiskey, you can do both if you have it, and whisk everything until smooth.
That's all, as you can see, it's quick, simple and much cheaper than in the store.
Pour it into a bottle and let it sit, bide its time.
Preparing cold “Sea Breeze”
- Fill the green tea bags with very hot water, but not boiling water. It is better if the boiled kettle sits for three minutes, then the temperature will be the most suitable.
- While the tea is brewing, let's start preparing the remaining ingredients. Chop the mint (coarsely). Cut the apple into cubes or whatever you want - it doesn’t matter.
- Remove the tea bags from the brewed tea by thoroughly squeezing all the tea leaves into the bowl. Dissolve sugar in hot tea.
- We also cut the lime, but into thin slices, so that the fruit gives all the aroma and taste to the refreshing tea.
- Throw mint, slices or slices of lime into a jar of prepared sweet tea and top it all with apple cubes.
- Cover the resulting drink with a lid and let it cool completely at room temperature. Then place the container with the drink in the refrigerator for an hour. Serve Sea Breeze tea with ice.
