Remember how in the famous film about Shurik: he took Kazan, he took Astrakhan... He didn’t take Shpak. So I cooked rice porridge with milk, I also cooked millet porridge with milk, but somehow I never had a chance to cook rice-millet porridge, so to speak, two in one. Of course, I tried it when I worked in a kindergarten, rested at a camp site, and was in the hospital. But I didn’t want to eat the porridge that they served there; they prepared it with practically no milk—it wasn’t tasty at all. So this Sunday morning I’m starting with an experiment and we’ll have rice and millet porridge with milk for breakfast.

Moreover, I have determined for myself the most convenient and most “tasty” way of preparing porridge with milk from solid cereals. That's what I'll use. I have no doubt that it will turn out delicious.

Cooking time for rice and millet porridge is 40 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Two types of cereals (rice and millet) – half a glass each
  • Milk - 1.5 cups
  • Water - 1.5 cups
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp. l.
  • Salt to taste
  • Butter - 40 gr.

Instructions

  1. Using a sieve, thoroughly rinse both cereals under running water (separately or mixed - it doesn’t matter), pour them into a saucepan, fill them with water (from the tap) and put them on the fire.

  2. After bringing the contents of the pan to a boil, rinse again.

  3. We put the cereals back into the pan and fill it with filtered water, bring it to a boil, and cook for a quarter of an hour without covering it with a lid.

  4. Meanwhile, boil the milk in a separate container.

  5. And pour it into the pan (be sure to be hot). Add salt and sugar, stir, close the pan and cook the porridge for another 10 minutes.

  6. Add oil to the almost finished porridge, cook under the lid for a couple of minutes and, turning off the heat, let it sit for about five minutes.

  7. Rice and millet porridge is ready. All that remains is to put it on plates and invite your household to the table. Bon appetit!

4. Cook over high heat until boiling, and then reduce to low. Continue cooking until half cooked. At this stage you need to add salt, vanilla and sugar. Stir thoroughly.

5. When both cereals are almost cooked, pour in warm milk. Stir, cook for at least 20 minutes over low heat until thick. Stir occasionally to prevent the porridge from burning!
