The secret of the name

The unusual name of this porridge came to us from distant Soviet times. Many people still remember how they shared a table porridge of rice and millet with their best friend. It received its optimistic name - “Friendship” - because it contains the same amount of two types of cereals. Cooked together, they give the food a great taste and pleasant aroma. The recipe for porridge “Friendship” in the classic version allows you to prepare a very appetizing dish. However, you can experiment with it: add new ingredients and make changes to your cooking approach. Below we will look at both traditional recipes and culinary innovations associated with the close “friendship” of two different cereals.

Caring for quality

As a rule, the “Friendship” porridge recipe is actively used in all children's institutions. And this is not surprising, because this dish has excellent taste, exceptional satiety and a large amount of vitamins. But every good housewife should know that healthy food can be prepared only from high-quality products. Naturally, special attention should be paid to the quality of millet and rice. At the same time, you should not buy the first cereal you come across at a reasonable price, because questionable ingredients can distort the characteristics of the porridge or affect its consistency. Rice should be short-grain, as it absorbs water well without being overcooked. This type of cereal is excellent for creating viscous dishes such as Druzhba porridge. The recipe for its preparation also involves the use of special millet. It should be chosen by color. The pale yellow cereal contains few vitamins and is slightly bitter. But the bright yellow tint and dullness of millet are an indicator of good quality and usefulness. After all the necessary products have been purchased, you can begin to create a dish such as “Friendship” porridge. A recipe with a photo will help even a novice housewife quickly master the preparation of this delicacy.
