Coffee has long ceased to be a common morning drink. Today, there are many cafes open all over the world where everyone can try different types of this aromatic drink. Arriving at such an establishment, you plunge into a special atmosphere of warmth and comfort, as if dissolving in coffee, caramel, vanilla and other aromas floating in the air. I would like to try all types of invigorating drinks, but many people are often lost in the names and are afraid to try something unfamiliar. Glace - the legend about the appearance of the cocktail

There is no reliable information about the appearance of an unusual, but completely predictable mix. However, there is one legend that suggests some interesting thoughts about the origins of ice cream coffee.

The main “culprit” of the appearance is considered to be the Austrian cook of the Archduke, who prepared coffee for his master. Maximilian I (namely, we are talking about him) simply adored the drink for its combination of taste and aroma, without limiting himself too much in quantity.

On one of the ordinary days, when the cook was preparing the ruler’s favorite drink, part of a dessert of iced oranges soaked in milk accidentally fell into the cup. There was no time to replace the drink and the chef risked presenting the cocktail as coffee according to a new recipe. The ruler received great pleasure from the tasting and invited the chef to prepare such a drink for him more often.

It is unknown how true this story is, however, the recipe for coffee with dessert has survived to this day, although it has undergone some changes. The drink was called “glace”, which means “cold” in French.

The most unusual varieties of ice cream

There are a huge number of unusual varieties of ice cream or the so-called premium class:

  1. Fried ice cream.


    This ice cream is very easy to make. First, small balls are molded from ordinary ice cream, which are then frozen very hard. Then the frozen balls are rolled in chicken eggs, in wheat or any other flour, in breading and then hard frozen again. These frozen balls are fried only in vegetable oil and only immediately before serving. This sweet is very popular in America, and especially in Mexico.     This dessert is based on glazed bacon; the creator of this ice cream was the famous expert Defid Lebovets.

  3. Black ice cream (licorice ice cream).


    A very small amount of black sesame is only added to this ice cream, which is why the black tint appears, and, consequently, the name from this. This ice cream was first invented in Japan.

  4. Golden ice cream - this ice cream is the most unusual premium dessert.


    Several small portions of such a delicacy cost from one thousand dollars and sometimes much more. This ice cream is served only in the most expensive restaurants in the United States. For such sweets, special, very tasty ice cream and food-grade golden foil are used. This foil is quite thin, so it is eaten together with ice cream, since it cannot cause any harm to the body. A variety of rare and exotic fruits are also added to this dessert in a glass.

  5. Ice cream with fish caviar and seaweed.


    The ice cream contains fish roe and seaweed. This unusual delicacy also came to us from Japan.

  6. Onion ice cream.


    This ice cream combines the most incompatible products. First, the onion is sautéed to make it sweet. Using a blender, sugar, cream, milk and eggs are mixed with vanilla powder. Despite the presence of onions, the dessert turns out very sweet and tasty.

An unusual combination of flavors: warm chocolate biscuit with cold peanut ice cream.

  • Butter - 100 g
  • Eggs - 2 pcs
  • Dark chocolate – 100 g
  • Sugar - 70 g
  • Flour - 50 g
  • Raspberries - 100 g

Cooking method:

Similar to preparing a glaze with brandy or cognac, you can mix a cocktail with the addition of liqueur. The only addition is ice cubes, which will not only cool the drink, but also make it less caloric. To prepare, 150 ml of freshly brewed coffee, a few ice cubes and two spoons of liqueur to taste will be enough.

Traditional coffee is prepared in the same way as in previous recipes with or without added sugar. Liquor (15% of the coffee volume) is poured into a tall glass, ice is added and only then coffee is added. Ice cream is placed on top, decorating the cocktail.

White glaze at home

Glace, or iced drink, is sometimes confused with latte. In fact, these drinks are similar, but lattes are made with milk, while iced drinks are made with ice cream. In order to prepare snow-white ice cream, we will take both ice cream and milk.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp natural coffee;
  • 150 ml water;
  • 150 ml milk;
  • ice cream;
  • a pinch of cinnamon;
  • grated chocolate or cocoa.

Cooking method:

  1. Let's start preparing the ice cream by brewing espresso in a Turk (coffee machine). You can add a pinch of cinnamon for flavor.
  2. Cool the prepared strong coffee directly in the Turk, then strain from the grounds and pour into a tall glass.
  3. Mix the chilled drink with cold milk in a 1:1 ratio. Place three scoops of ice cream (sundae or creme brulee) on top. It is important that the ice cream is of high quality, without the addition of palm fat.
  4. Decorate the frosting with grated chocolate or cocoa and serve with a cocktail straw or a special spoon.

Dietary glaze - how to make it at home

To prepare a low-calorie drink, you can use:

  • classic espresso;
  • 100 ml cream with a minimum percentage of fat content;
  • several cubes of dark chocolate;
  • ice;
  • 50 g ice cream.

They start by preparing the chocolate - it is melted in a water bath, after which cream and coffee are added to it, brought to a boil and allowed to cool. Ice cream and ice are placed at the bottom of the prepared glass, poured with coffee mixture and decorated with a straw.

A simpler option is to replace chocolate with cocoa powder with the addition of vanilla and berries for decoration. The drink is prepared in the same way as in the previous case, using cocoa instead of chocolate and decorating the finished cocktail with berries.
