I’ll say right away that I didn’t find much variety in recipes. Apparently, our man loves herring in its original form so much that he is ready to combine it only with black bread and fresh butter. I do not argue! This is truly a fantastic trinity :-).

All I can do is show you the design options for canapés with herring and list a few important little things that are worth paying attention to.

Here are the ideas I managed to gather

You can spread on black bread:

  • “dill” oil (rub finely chopped dill into softened oil, 1 tablespoon of herbs per 50 g of oil)
  • mustard oil (for 50 g of oil - a teaspoon of mustard)
  • cheese cream (mix cream cheese with grated hard cheese 1:1 or with a boiled egg)
  • mayonnaise with herbs or finely chopped fresh cucumber

Under a piece of herring you can put:

  • green apple slice
  • slice of boiled new potato
  • onion ring

You can decorate a canape with herring:

A very convenient option for serving your favorite salad at a buffet table. We will need a mat for rolls, which we cover with cling film. Now the layers: chopped green onions 2 feathers, slices of herring 100 g, grated beets with mayonnaise (can be mixed in advance) 150 g, grated carrots with mayonnaise 100 g, chopped eggs (2 pcs.) with mayonnaise. Using film, make a tight roll and cool in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.

  2. Steam the beets in advance or bake in the oven until soft (see how to bake beets in the oven). You should not boil beets in water.
  3. Firstly, it will lose taste and color, and secondly, it will take on water and become watery. When the beets have cooled, grate them on a fine grater or grind them in a blender (but not until smooth). Place in a colander and let excess juice drain. Pass the garlic through a press and add to the beets.
  4. Mix everything, season the salad with oil. If the beets are unsweetened, add a pinch of sugar - the finished snack will taste better when the beets have a sweetish taste.
  5. Cut the bread into slices 1 cm thick. It is better to trim the crusts, cut the crumb into small pieces of any shape (for one bite).
  6. Grease the bread with a thin layer of vegetable oil and make a lattice out of green onion feathers. Place a little lettuce and a rolled-up slice of herring on each piece of bread. Garnish with dill and serve.

  • Cream cheese (About 80 grams) - 2.5 tbsp. l.
  • Lemon zest - ½ tsp.
  • Lemon juice - ½ tsp.
  • Soy sauce (TM Kikkoman) - 1 tsp.

  • Bread (black) - 1 slice.

Grind canned or boiled beans in a blender bowl. Add chopped beets, a pinch of salt and pepper. Grind everything again. Finely chop the greens and combine them with the prepared mixture.

  • Mushrooms - 300g
  • Onion - 1 piece
