Compote of apples for the winter with orange (without sterilization)

Compote of apples, oranges and lemons - homemade Fanta for the winter

Compote of apples, oranges and lemons is not just very tasty.
Fanta lovers, having tried this compote, unanimously say that it tastes similar to the popular orange drink. I roll this homemade Fanta for the winter without sterilization and most of the vitamins contained in fresh fruit are not destroyed, but remain in the compote. You can learn how to prepare delicious apple compote with lemons and oranges for the winter from my detailed recipe with photos.

For one three-liter jar of compote you will need:

  • apples (small) - 8-10 pcs.;
  • granulated sugar – 300 gr;
  • water – 2.5 liters;
  • orange – 1/2 pcs.;
  • lemon – 1/3 pcs.

How to make apple, orange and lemon compote

Before starting to prepare compote, we need to sterilize three-liter jars and sealing lids in advance in any convenient way.

So, let's start by washing the apples under cold running water. By the way, I selected small apples for the compote. If you have a large apple, then 2-3 apples are enough for a bottle of our preparation.

Oranges and lemons must be scalded with boiling water to release the essential oils contained in the citrus peel.

Without this manipulation, the finished compote may later become bitter.

Peel the apples.

Then, use a sharp knife to remove the cores and cut the apples into medium-sized slices.

Cut oranges and lemons into rings one centimeter thick.

Try to choose medium-sized citrus fruits for compote, the main thing is that the cut circles fit freely through the neck of the jar.

If the oranges are too large, you can cut the slices in half. This will not affect the taste of the compote, but the halves will not look very appetizing in the jar.

In each jar we put apple slices, three orange slices and two lemon slices.

Boil the required amount of water and fill the jars to the top.

Then, cover them with sterilized lids and wrap them in a towel for twenty minutes.

Next, using a special lid with holes, drain the water from the bottles into a large saucepan, add sugar and bring to a boil.

Pour the resulting syrup back into the jars and roll up the lids.

Next, turn the jars of compote over onto their lids and wrap them in a blanket for two hours.

This is such a beautiful compote we made from apples, oranges and lemons for the winter.

Please note that the color of the compote prepared for the winter resembles Fanta. When you open the jars with the preparation in winter, you will be able to make sure that the delicate sweet and sour taste of the compote is also very reminiscent of the popular drink

Classic recipe for compote of apples and oranges for the winter for children

This preparation does not contain preservatives such as citric acid or vinegar, so this safe apple and orange compote is a recipe for children. Even the little ones can drink it, unless, of course, the child suffers from an allergy to citrus fruits.

So, to prepare three liter jars of compote you will need:

  • 800 grams of oranges (about 4 pieces);
  • 1500 grams of apples (6 medium fruits);
  • 400 grams of sugar;
  • 1 liter of water.

Cooking steps:

  1. Prepare apples and oranges in the same manner as above, dividing the pieces evenly among three jars. Chop the orange peel separately and reserve for the syrup.

  2. Make a syrup from water, sugar and chopped citrus peels.

  3. Pour the boiling syrup into jars, first remove the peel from the filling. Cover the jars with lids and let stand for ten minutes.

  4. Then pour the syrup back into the pan, boil again and repeat the procedure.

  5. After pouring the boiling syrup for the third time, roll up the lids on the jars. And put it in a warm place to cool on the lid, wrapped in a warm blanket.

  6. Compote of apples and oranges is ready for the winter. After complete cooling, transfer to a permanent storage location.

You can diversify the taste of the compote using a small amount of ginger root.

Recipes

Jam is also commonly called confiture. Judging by its consistency, you might think that preparing this dessert is quite difficult and time-consuming, since gelatin must be added to it. Nothing like that: thanks to the content of certain substances and microelements, apples gel themselves perfectly.

To add a special taste, spices, aromatic herbs, orange and lemon juice are added to the jam during cooking. If you have a lot of apples, you can experiment. We offer you several recipes that you can follow exactly or use as a basis for realizing your culinary fantasies.

Classic apple jam

You will need the following products:

  • juicy, not overripe apples – 1 kg;
  • water – 0.5 cups;
  • granulated sugar - about 1 kg, depending on the sweetness of the apple variety;
  • lemon – 1 piece;
  • cinnamon – 1 tsp;
  • ginger - to taste.

Please note: the water in this recipe can be replaced with juice - apple, grape. If you use brown sugar, the jam will take on a beautiful color.

When preparing apple jam, you can deviate a little from the traditional recipe and add something of your own

Make syrup from water and sugar. Wash the fruits, cut them in half, and remove the cores. If apples have rough skin, it should be cut off.

Grate the apples on a coarse grater. Dip the resulting mass into syrup and cook over low heat until smooth. Stir regularly to prevent the jam from burning.

Cooking time will be about 60 minutes. 10 minutes before the end the jam will thicken; at this stage you need to add lemon juice, cinnamon and ginger. Mix thoroughly.

Place the finished jam in sterilized jars, roll them under the lids and wrap them in a blanket for several days.

Recipe "Economy"

A very simple recipe, with a minimum amount of ingredients and little expense of money and time. You will need:

  • 2 kg apples;
  • 1 kg sugar;
  • 0.5 glasses of water.

For this jam, you can use slightly unripe apples. Thoroughly rinse and peel the fruits, cut them into slices. Do not throw away the cut peel, but place it in another saucepan.

Pour sugar over the chopped apples, shake well so that the whole mass is evenly distributed.

Take a saucepan with the peel, add water, place on medium heat and simmer for 10 minutes. After the peel has cooled slightly, pour the resulting liquid into the pan with the apples. Place it on the fire and cook until softened. This will take about 40 minutes. Stir thoroughly, reduce heat and leave to simmer for about another hour.

Chop the apples smaller so that the jam boils down better

After boiling, the total mass will become 2 times less than the original. At this stage, check the readiness: take a dry saucer, drop a little jam, let it cool for a couple of minutes, tilt the saucer: if the jam does not drip, it means it is ready.

Jam in a slow cooker

Classic apple jam in a slow cooker will not require much time from you. It cooks much faster than on the stove. The water boils away during the cooking process, but the apples do not burn. If your multicooker has a temperature selection function, choose the one indicated in the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg apples;
  • 0.5 kg sugar;
  • 1 glass of water.

For this jam, you can use any apples, even carrion apples.

A slow cooker will help you make jam faster

  • Peel the apples by cutting them into wide strips. Place the peel in a multicooker bowl, pour a glass of boiling water, turn on the “Steam” mode and let it boil for 10 minutes. During this time, pectin will boil out of the peel, the very substance that gels your jam.
  • Remove the skins from the bowl with a slotted spoon and discard. Place the apples cut into slices into the remaining broth and add sugar. Turn on the “Extinguishing” mode, time – 1 hour. Close the lid.
  • Mix the resulting mass, turn on the “Baking” program for 40 minutes. Do not close the lid tightly. During the cooking process, you need to stir the jam a couple of times.
  • After the jam is cooked (you can tell by its thickness and rich, bright color), pour it into dry, sterilized jars.

Please note: when preparing jam in a slow cooker, you should not increase the amount of ingredients. There should be no more than a kilogram of apples, otherwise the jam will boil away during cooking and ruin your device

The lid may stick so tightly that special cleaning products are required.

  4. Pour the liquid into a saucepan, put it on gas, pour in sugar and bring the syrup to a boil.
  5. When the sugar is completely dissolved in water, add the resulting liquid to jars with whole apples.
  6. Roll up the lids and put them in the cellar until you want to try the sweet, aromatic compote.

How to cook apple-orange compote for the winter?

The ratio of fruits is selected depending on taste preferences. In this case, there should be more apples than citrus fruits. Orange is an aromatic and flavoring additive to the main ingredient.

Classic recipe

Ingredients:

  • apples - 1 kg;
  • oranges - 2 pcs.;
  • sugar - 400 g;
  • water.

Step-by-step preparation:

  1. The jars are filled with fruit.
  2. Containers are filled with boiled water.
  3. After 5 minutes, the liquid is poured into a large saucepan, sugar is added to it and brought to a boil.

The resulting syrup is poured into jars and covered with lids.

Option with ginger

Typically, dried ginger is added in powder form. It is also possible to use fresh root. In the first case, you will need no more than 5 g of mixture per jar, 1-2 slices of fresh ginger.

With plums

The use of such ingredients makes it possible to obtain an unusual taste of compote. The plums are washed, cut into slices, from which the pit is removed. The amount of plums should be between apples and oranges.

With chokeberry

Due to the color of the berries, the color of the drink is rich and original. The fruits are plucked from the branch and added to the rest of the ingredients. This compote is used not only for its taste, but also for its medicinal properties.

With mint

When preparing compote, the plant is used both fresh and dried. Take 0.5 tsp per jar. powder or one sprig of a fresh plant. Gives the drink freshness. Housewives who have tried the recipe say that the drink is similar to the famous mojito cocktail.

With cognac

A fruit drink with added alcohol is definitely not suitable for children. Prepared for the winter, it is used as a warming drink. Drinks cold or hot.

With dried apples

When preparing the drink, the same apples are used, but due to their dried appearance, the taste of the compote is different. Before putting the fruits into the jar, they are soaked in boiling water. This way the pulp will release its juices faster, and the compote will taste as it should.

With added kiwi

The presence of an exotic fruit makes the drink not only tasty, but also beautiful. Kiwi can be cut into slices. To make the fruit look even more interesting, different figures are cut out of the slices. The same can be done with apples and oranges.

With honey

Compote prepared with the addition of an aromatic and sweet substance will taste unusual. When using honey, the amount of sugar is reduced. Those with a sweet tooth choose the proportions themselves. Compote with honey is great for buns and pies with sweet filling.

With cinnamon and wine

Due to the selection of ingredients, the drink is more reminiscent of mulled wine than compote. Cinnamon is taken in the form of powder or sticks. If desired, additional components are used to make the compote even more like a flavored drink.

With red currants

Compote of apples, oranges and black currants turns out incredibly tasty. The ingredients are selected in such a way that the taste is balanced. You can feel the sweetness and sourness at the same time.

The currants are placed in a container along with the branches or the fruits are torn off; this moment is optional for every housewife.

When rolling compote for the winter, there is no need for sterilization. Red currants contain acids that promote long-term storage of the drink. Fruits and berries are placed in jars, after which they are immediately filled with boiling syrup.

Multicooker recipe

Thanks to the special mode, the drink is prepared within 30-40 minutes. The hostess fills the bowl with the ingredients, starts the device and goes about her business. At this time, the drink is being prepared. At the end of the specified time, the hot liquid is poured into jars, which are rolled up with a key.

Apple and grape drink

A very tasty drink is obtained with the Isabella variety. The aroma is simply fantastic and rich

But it is worth paying attention to the sweetness of the berries. If you have straight sugar, then you need to add less than in the recipe

After all, if you greatly reduce the amount of sugar, the compote may ferment due to a lack of preservative. If the grapes are very sweet, then we take sour apples.

By the way, this recipe involves sterilizing containers and contents.

Let's take:

  • 400 g apples (4-6 pcs.),
  • 200 g sugar,
  • 400 g grapes.

Peel the apples and cut them into pieces or slices as you like.

We remove spoiled berries from the bunch. It is better not to pull out the sticks, otherwise the berry will quickly burst. Thick stalks can be trimmed.

Place berries and apples at the bottom of a clean jar. Homemade grapes can be placed with branches! If this causes confusion for you, then it is better to remove the fruits from the bunch and use only them.

Let's add sugar.

Fill with cold water and cover with a lid.

Place a cloth on the bottom of a wide sterilization pan.

Pour cold water and place the jar. Boil for 15 minutes and remove. Let's roll it up right away. Turn the container over and wrap it for a day. Then the fruits will release their juice better.

Preparing Ingredients

To make a drink from fresh apples, you will need:

  • enamel pan;
  • knife and board for peeling and slicing apples;
  • colander or sieve (in order to remove pulp from the liquid, which has given all its beneficial properties to the compote),
  • apples, 700-800 g;
  • 2.5-3 liters of water;
  • the addition of sugar depends on the taste of the selected apple variety and personal preferences (sour, sweet, or neutral), but the required minimum is half a glass.

The next step is preparing the apples.

It is necessary to select fruits that are not overripe and not too green, and rinse the apples thoroughly under running water; then cut them into medium-sized arc-shaped slices. In some recipes, at the stage of preparing apples, it is recommended to peel them; however, you should not do this, since apple peel contains many of the vitamins mentioned above.

It is advisable to cut out the core of the apple, along with the seeds. As an example, you can use the image below.

Preparing apple compote from frozen ingredients is not much different from preparing it from fresh fruit.

It requires:

  • frozen apples – 1-1.5 kg. By the way, you don’t have to defrost them, but immediately put them in boiling water;
  • 2.5 liters of water;
  • granulated sugar, which is added “to taste”; the sweetness of the drink depends on the preferences of the cook.

We thoroughly wash whole apples, select and remove spoiled fruits. Please note that there is no need to peel the apples. Next, you should pack the apples into jars, which must first be doused with boiling water from the inside and thus sterilized

Fill the jar of apples with boiling water to the middle. At the same time, bring water to a boil with added sugar in the amount necessary to fill the jar completely; After boiling, pour it into a jar.

Next, screw the lid tightly onto the neck of the jar. Place the finished winter compote with the lid down on a bedspread or a thick layer of paper (old newspapers, magazines) and cover it tightly with another blanket on top. After the wrapped jars have cooled, you can transfer them to the pantry before the onset of winter.

When twisting compote for the winter, you can use not only small and medium-sized apples, which, as a rule, are twisted whole, but also large ones, after cutting them into 6-8 slices and peeling them from the core.

Traditional apple and plum compote “True Friends”

Ingredients:

  • Apples – 3-4 pieces (medium size)
  • Plums – 15 – 20 pieces (the quantity depends on the variety – for example, “Hungarian” needs more)
  • Water - approximately 0.5 liters
  • Granulated sugar – 200 g

Cooking method:

  1. Carefully wash apples and plums, check that all fruits are ripe and without wormholes;
  2. Divide the apples into slices, remove the core and seeds;
  3. Separate the plums into two halves and remove the pits;
  4. Place all the fruits at the bottom of the jar and fill with water;
  5. Carefully pour the water into the cooking container, add sugar there and start making sugar syrup;
  6. Bring the water to a boil, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves completely;
  7. Pour hot syrup over the fruit in the jar, leave for 10-15 minutes covered;
  8. Gently pour the drink without fruit into saucepans, cook until it boils, then cook for 1-2 minutes;
  9. Immediately pour the syrup into a jar with apples and plums;
  10. Roll up with sterilized lids (jars must also be sterilized separately), turn the jar upside down, cover with something warm, wait until it cools down.
  11. The same compote can be prepared in a quick way; this will require the same ingredients, but a little more water: the prepared fruits are placed in a saucepan with one liter of water;
  12. Add one glass of sugar, stir and wait until the water boils, then cook over low heat for 5-6 minutes and let the compote brew for 15-20 minutes;
  13. If such a compote is rolled up, then it is poured into jars while hot, and the jars are sterilized according to the rules.

Bon appetit!

Description

Compote of apples and oranges for the winter

– the best canned drink that perfectly quenches thirst and endlessly pleases with its delicate taste.
The aroma of this preparation exceeds all expectations and this is all thanks to such exotic fruits as oranges. Some housewives prepare this wonderful apple drink at home and add lemon, which also turns out quite creative and unusual. However, the share of exoticism in this workpiece is present in both cases, which makes it special.
You can cook this apple-orange compote both for the winter and for everyday use. In the first case, the prepared drink will need to be canned, and as you know, home canning has several important nuances. In addition to the fact that the fruits chosen for canning must all be of good quality, they must also be used only fresh. Dried or frozen apples should absolutely not be used for winter preservation. In this form, it is better to use them to prepare compote just for the current days.

Note! In this recipe with photos and step-by-step instructions, the amount of ingredients is calculated for one 3-liter jar of compote. However, keep in mind that one jar of such preservation in the winter season will probably not be enough, so it’s worth preparing a dozen of them for the winter at once

The apple compote itself is not particularly original, but if you add oranges to it, that’s a completely different story.

Citrus fruits will add piquancy and freshness to the compote.

How to cook orange compote in a slow cooker

We all know that a kitchen assistant allows you to quickly cook soup, prepare porridge, pilaf, or “raise” yeast dough. But few housewives use a slow cooker to prepare winter preparations. In vain. She copes with the task perfectly. Let's try to make a very tasty orange compote (photo attached). It will take a minimum of time, but we will get the maximum benefits.

What products will you need:

  • 2 liters of water;
  • 2 stacks Sahara;
  • 3 oranges;
  • 4 apples;
  • 2 tangerines.

Secrets of making apple compote for the winter

For seaming, it is better to choose firm, ripe or slightly unripe apples of sweet and sour varieties. Soft, overripe ones will fall apart during cooking. All fruits must be washed thoroughly before use. There is no need to peel the fruit, since with the skin they will better retain their shape after heat treatment.

Fruit compotes for the winter are always prepared using the double-fill method directly in jars. It is not necessary to sterilize glass containers; they must be thoroughly washed with soda. But the tin lids will need to be boiled in any case.

The syrup is poured into the jar to the top, “heaped” so that it spills a little, and at this moment the lid is screwed on. This way there will be no air left inside the jar and fermentation will not begin. If you have sweet apples, add half a teaspoon of citric acid to the jar before the second filling. You will get a pleasant sourness, and not a cloying drink, which will favorably emphasize the fruit bouquet.

Turn the rolled cans upside down, wrap them in a blanket and cool completely under it. With gradual cooling inside the jar, pasteurization will continue, and the preservation will be stored longer. Store your seams in a cool, dark room.

There are certain nuances in the preparation of compotes, one of them is the effect of elevated temperatures on the glass.

Recipes often indicate that the jar and lid must be sterile. Sterilizing containers at home is more of a tradition, although with the advent of microwave ovens an innovation appeared: placing a jar filled 1/4 with water in the microwave. There are also suggestions that when pouring boiling water twice, sterilization of a separate jar is not required.

Apples are extremely healthy even when preserved, let alone eaten fresh. Their benefits can hardly be overestimated:

  • protection against brain aging;
  • reducing the likelihood of pancreatic cancer;
  • prevention of high cholesterol levels;
  • strengthening the immune system and blood vessels;
  • blood purifier;
  • protection against the formation of gallstones;
  • Low calorie content (47 kcal per 100 g) makes these fruits a dietary product.

The listed properties of apples for the body are due to their vitamin content, folic acid, organic acids, and microelements. But even if we put aside all the benefits for the body of this simple and accessible fruit at any time of the year, what remains is the pure pleasure of enjoying the red-sided fruits.

And by the way, try making this incredible dessert of baked apples with rice for your children. They will think it’s just sweetness and will happily eat the whole portion. And the secret is that it will replace the second course, since the filling is hearty and nutritious.

We always have apple compote on the table, for example, after a bath. These are such simple joys of life - leaving the steam room tired and pouring a glass of a cool homemade drink. The 3-liter jar is emptied instantly!

Cooking it is not at all difficult, given the abundance of ingredients on store shelves. Each of the combinations has benefits for our body. And yet the best option is to make it from fruits and berries grown with your own hands.

Apple compote slices with blueberries

A homemade drink made from berries and fruits is considered the most fortified and tonic. I suggest making a vitamin bomb from blueberries and apples! You don't have to wait until summer and blueberry season, or early fall for apples in your area. It can be prepared all year round. Apples never go out of stock, and berries can be bought frozen. But still, the most delicious drink is made from fresh produce, and you can’t argue with that.

Ingredients (3 liter jar):

  • apples – 6 medium;
  • sugar – 12 tbsp. spoon;
  • blueberries – 250 g;
  • lemon – 5-6 slices;
  • water - one and a half liters.

How to make apple compote with blueberries:

The first step is to wash the apples, remove the core and cut the fruit into small pieces. If you like to eat apples from a jar, you can cut off the peel. Although I believe that all the vitamins are concentrated in the peel and seed chamber, and it is better that they give up their valuable substances to the syrup, so it is better not to remove the peel.

Place blueberries washed with clean water in a bowl with chopped apples. You need to sort out the berries in advance so that you don’t end up with spoiled ones.

Cut the lemon into halves and place in a bowl (or pan) with the ingredients for the compote.

Pour the prepared fruits and berries into a cooking pan, adding sugar. You can increase the amount of products, then the taste of the compote will be more intense.

Now you need to pour in water and put the pan on the fire. After the water boils, boil for 5-7 minutes.

Pour the hot drink into sterile jars and seal with boiled lids. While the compote is cooling, turn it upside down and cover it with a blanket.

Store cooled pieces in a cool, dark place.

You have a luxurious and very valuable drink, enriched with vitamins. It is useful for all family members, especially children. If possible, it is recommended to cook it in winter, when there is a particularly lack of energy and vitamins.

Recipe 3. Compote of apples and oranges with plums

Jam from apples and other products

We already said above that apple jam can be “diluted” with various ingredients to get an unusual taste. Try making assorted jam using other fruits and berries besides apples - you won’t regret it!

Apples and pears

In this combination, the apples give their sourness to the pears, and the pears give the apples a unique aroma. Be sure to add oranges or lemons.

You will need:

  • 1 kg of pears;
  • 1 kg apples;
  • juice of 1 lemon or orange;
  • 1-2 kg of sugar.

These proportions allow you to make a choice. For example, the amount of sugar depends on the sweetness of the apples and whether you like sweet or sour jam. You can also use more lemons and oranges if you want a pronounced citrus taste.

Apples and pears are a great combination for jam.

Peel apples and pears. Cut the fruit into pieces and puree using a blender or food processor.

Place the mixture in a deep bowl. Add juice or puree from lemon peel and grind.

Place the pan with the mixture on low heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the jam thickens and sticks strongly to the sides.

Place the finished jam into jars.

Apples and oranges

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg apples;
  • 1 kg orange;
  • 1.2 kg sugar;
  • 2 glasses of water.
  • Wash the oranges thoroughly. Peel the peel, divide into slices, remove the white films. Grate the orange peels without touching the inner white layer.
  • Wash the apples, peel and core them, grate them on a coarse grater. Cover with water and cook until the apples soften into a puree.
  • Rub the hot puree through a sieve. Add sugar, orange slices and zest.
  • Stir the mixture and cook for 15 minutes. Don't forget to stir constantly. Once the jam is ready, pour it into jars and close the lids.

When making apple jam with oranges and lemons, try to maintain the proportions of sugar

You can make apple and lemon jam in the same way. The only difference is that you need to take more sugar (for example, 1.5 - 2 kg) so that the sour taste of lemon does not predominate in the dessert.

Apples and plums

Your family will definitely love this jam. Its little secret is cinnamon, which adds piquancy to the taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg yellow plums;
  • 1 kg apples;
  • 1.5 kg sugar;
  • 1 cinnamon stick.

Plums are a great addition to apple jam.

  • Wash the fruits and let them dry. Peel the apples, remove the core and damaged areas, and cut into slices.
  • Plums for jam should be ripe or slightly overripe, not rotten and without wormholes. Remove the pits from the plums.
  • Place the prepared fruits in a suitable pan and cover with sugar. Leave for 6-7 hours to release the juice.
  • Place the pan over medium heat. Add a cinnamon stick to the mixture and bring to a boil. After boiling, reduce heat and simmer until tender, stirring constantly.
  • Once the plum-apple jam has thickened, remove it from the heat, remove the cinnamon and place it in the jars.

Orange compote recipe

Composition (for 6 l):

  • oranges – 2 kg;
  • honey (preferably flower) – 0.2 l;
  • sugar – 0.8 kg;
  • water – 4.5 l.

Cooking method:

  • Wash the oranges well, pat dry with a napkin and peel. Remove the veins and the top layer of white film.
  • Break the fruit into slices and remove the film from each slice.
  • Place the orange slices in an aluminum bowl or pan with a thick bottom and cover with sugar.
  • Place the orange zest in a separate pan, add water and cook for a quarter of an hour after boiling. Strain the broth and pour it over the orange slices.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, cook for 20 minutes over low heat. Strain.
  • Distribute the orange slices into pre-washed and sterilized jars.
  • Add honey to the syrup, bring it to a boil again, and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Pour syrup over orange slices. Screw on the jars with clean and boiled lids.
  • Turn the hermetically sealed jars over and cover with a woolen blanket. Cooling in a steam bath, the compote will undergo additional preservation and will stand up better in winter. In addition, if one of the cans is not closed tightly enough and leaks, you will be able to notice and fix the problem in a timely manner.
