Carrot Lenten Pie

Who would have thought that such easy-to-prepare Lenten pies could be so delicious. So the proposed recipe with a photo of carrot baking is an excellent combination of taste and aroma.

Ingredients:

  • 2 carrots;
  • 200 ml water;
  • 100 ml vegetable oil;
  • 3 tbsp. l. honey;
  • 1 tsp. soda;
  • 100 g granulated sugar;
  • 300 g flour;
  • 0.5 tsp. cardamom;
  • 0.5 tsp. ginger;
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon;
  • 1 orange;
  • 60 g sunflower seeds.

Preparation:

  1. Pass the peeled carrot root through a fine grater and squeeze out the juice so that the filling does not turn out wet. But we don’t pour out the juice, but it will still come in handy.
  2. Peel the zest from half the orange.
  3. Sift the flour into a bowl, add soda and all the spices on the list, but if you wish, you can add a little more coriander or nutmeg.
  4. Add carrots, citrus zest and peeled sunflower seeds to the dry ingredients, mix everything well.
  5. Pour water into a saucepan, add beet sugar and add honey, put on fire and wait for all ingredients to completely dissolve.
  6. Then pour in the oil, stir and cool slightly before combining with the dry ingredients.
  7. Pour the resulting thin dough into an oiled mold and place in the oven for 80 minutes, temperature 200°C.
  8. We take the finished pie out of the oven and cool it, and at this time we make a syrup from carrot juice, orange juice and sugar, which we add to taste.
  9. Bring the ingredients to a boil, cook for literally 5 minutes and pour the syrup over the carrot cake; it’s better to do this directly in the mold.
  10. Once the pie has cooled completely, you can serve it.

Advice!

For baking, it is better to take the “Karotelka” variety of carrots; it is the sweetest and tastiest of all varieties.

Lenten carrot cake

Lenten carrot cake
You will need:

  • wheat flour - 2.5 cups
  • grated carrots - 2 cups
  • vegetable oil - 100 ml
  • sugar - 100 g
  • lemon juice - 2 tsp.
