Otherwise, the taste of the salad may not turn out quite the way you imagined it. You can use either sour cream or mayonnaise as a dressing. To make the appetizer low-calorie, use sour cream with minimal fat content along with mayonnaise and exclude potatoes from the salad or use them in smaller quantities. Be sure to add green onions and other herbs. Some housewives also prefer to add onions. You can do this at your discretion.
Salad with cheese and red fish
As already mentioned, red fish goes with a huge variety of foods. To prove this, let’s present a salad recipe that is not similar to the previous options.
You will need:
- lightly salted salmon or trout - packaging;
- 200 grams of hard cheese;
- 2 small carrots;
- 2 potatoes;
- a couple of hard-boiled eggs;
- mayonnaise - to taste.
The dish is prepared as follows:
- Boil potatoes and carrots until soft.
- The eggs are also boiled, cooled and peeled. Each egg is cut in half and the yolks and whites are separated. The first ones are kneaded with a fork and set aside for now. The whites are grated.
- Red fish is cut into cubes.
- Hard cheese is ground on a fine grater.
- Form the salad in layers, coating each bottom with a moderate layer of mayonnaise.
- The first layer is potatoes, the second is fish, the third is carrots, the fourth is protein, the fifth is cheese, and the very top is the yolk, which does not need to be greased with mayonnaise.
To effectively serve such a dish, you can put it in a metal form without a bottom, which is then removed, and the salad remains fixed. You can refuse this serving option in favor of a glass salad bowl or a portioned bowl.
Salad with cheese, tomatoes and trout
A delicious salad with red fish is perfect for everyday meals.
You will need:
- package of lightly salted salmon;
- 100 grams of hard cheese;
- 4 boiled eggs;
- 3 medium sized tomatoes;
- onion greens;
- mayonnaise (it tastes better with homemade).
It is better to place the layers immediately into the container in which it will be served. For showiness, give preference to wide whiskey glasses or bowls.
The salad with salmon and tomatoes is prepared as follows:
- Salmon is cut into cubes or slices (optional).
- The cheese is grated.
- The eggs are boiled until tender and grated on a track; the yolks should not be separated from the whites.
- Tomatoes are simply cut into cubes.
- Green onion feathers are chopped.
- Now put the salad in the prepared bowl. Each layer is salted and coated with mayonnaise. The first layer is red fish, the second is eggs, the third is tomatoes, the fourth is cheese. The cheese coated with mayonnaise is sprinkled with herbs on top. You can garnish with additional black olives.
How to cook
- First of all, mayonnaise needs to be mixed with wasabi. We will use this mass as a dressing for coating the layers.
- Boil the rice as for making sushi. We do it this way: wash the grains, fill them with cold water in a ratio of 1 to 2 (one part rice to two parts liquid), put it on high heat until it boils (about 5 minutes). Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 15 minutes. Remove from the stove and let sit under the lid for half an hour.
- Boil the carrots. Eggs too. While some of it is cooking, prepare the remaining ingredients: cut the red fish into pieces, and cut the cucumbers into cubes. Chop the onion smaller.
- Boiled carrots, three large eggs on a grater. Mix eggs with herbs (which also need to be chopped first) and season with mayonnaise sauce containing wasabi powder.
- And the last thing: layer the ingredients, coating them with wasabi mayonnaise. You can also sprinkle grated cheese on top if you wish. Let the salad with red fish (see recipe with photo above) stand at the bottom of the refrigerator for an hour. And then we serve the festive dish to the table.

- Carrot.
- The top of the salad is sprinkled with herbs.
Before serving this salad, you should stir it. You don’t need to use salt, since salmon and cucumbers can compensate for its deficiency.
Olivier with salmon
A very tasty recipe for salad with red fish - similar to the well-known Olivier salad. Only lightly salted salmon is used instead of sausage.
