There are many variations in the preparation of Chafan salad. They differ in the set of ingredients and different presentation. However, there are several characteristic features for this snack:
- The main components of the salad: raw carrots and beets, pickled onions. And additional products in this dish are white cabbage, potatoes, any meat, herbs and sometimes even cheese.
- The beets and carrots for this dish are grated on a special grater, which is used to prepare Korean snacks. The cabbage is finely chopped, the potatoes are cut into cubes and fried in a frying pan with vegetable oil. The meat is cut into portions and also fried. The onion is chopped into half rings and then pickled. If you violate the methods of preparing chafan salad, you can ruin its reputation.
- Several types of sauce are prepared for this dish. One of them is used for pickling onions, the second for pouring vegetables, and the third for guests. The first sauce is made from vinegar, in the second case - vegetable oil, mayonnaise and soy sauce. But for the sauce that is served at the festive table, the following ingredients are used: mayonnaise, sour cream and garlic.
- It is worth noting that if the salad sits for about 30 minutes, it will become even tastier. It is recommended to prepare this sauce immediately before guests arrive.

- Carrots 200 g;
- Potatoes 200 g;
- Beetroot 200 g;
- Canned peas 200 g;
- Chicken fillet 200 g;
- Dill 1 bunch;
- Parsley 1 bunch;
- Onions 200 g;
- Salt to taste;
- Ground black pepper to taste;
- Apple vinegar 2-3 tbsp;
- Sugar 2-3 pinches.
- For refueling:
- Mayonnaise or sunflower oil.
Recipe preparation method
First of all, the onions are peeled and cut into half rings. Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar, salt and sugar to a pan of boiling water. The resulting marinade is removed from the heat and poured over the chopped onion. The vegetable is marinated for about 15 minutes.
Beets and carrots are thoroughly washed and peeled. Then the prepared vegetables are grated. If you don’t have a grater for Korean snacks, you can simply cut the vegetables into thin strips. The cabbage is also washed, chopped and placed in a separate plate.
The meat is washed, excess moisture is removed from it and cut into small cubes. Pieces of beef are fried in a frying pan with vegetable oil. You need to add salt and pepper to it.
Potatoes are fried in the same way. After this, place the meat and potatoes on paper towels to remove any remaining oil.
The onion marinade is poured into another bowl, a little sugar and salt, vegetable oil, 1 spoon of vinegar, chopped garlic are added to it, and all the ingredients are mixed thoroughly. Pour this mixture over chopped vegetables and allow them to soak in this marinade for a while. Next, the vegetables are removed and squeezed.
The products are laid out on a plate in sectors, alternating all the vegetables in the following sequence: meat, carrots, beets, potatoes, cabbage, pickled onions. Mayonnaise is mixed with the remaining garlic and transferred to a special sauce boat. But you can also place the sauce in the center of the dish. The greens are finely chopped and sprinkled on the borders of the salad sectors.
It is important to know that some classic Chafan salad recipes do not add cabbage and potatoes. In this case, they buy 2 times more vegetables.
How to make Chafan salad with meat
The most nutritious dish will always be one that contains animal protein. This Chafan salad with beef is prepared no more complicated than the traditional version discussed above. The only thing that will take a lot of time is working with meat. The beef that is used for this Chafan is rather dry and therefore requires long marinating. Potatoes can be baked if desired.
Ingredients:
- carrots – 3 pcs.;
- potatoes – 2 pcs.;
- onion;
- beef – 270 g;
- ground pepper;
- salt;
- beets – 200 g;
- mayonnaise.
Cooking method:
- Cut the beef into very (!) thin strips and pour into a heated frying pan. Add oil and spices. Fry at maximum power until clearly browned.
- Remove the meat strips from the pan and place on a paper towel.
- Prepare potato wedges in the same way.
- Cut the beets and carrots into strips with a vegetable peeler, chop the onion into half rings.
- Layout step by step: moving clockwise, make a pile of carrots, potatoes, beets, and repeat this order again. In the center - meat strips with onions. Serve mayonnaise separately.
Cooking steps
Chicken fillet should be cut into small pieces, simmer a little in salted water, dry in an electric oven and place on a baking sheet. Peel the potatoes, wash and cut into medium-sized cubes. Then bake it in the oven.
Chop the onion into half rings and marinate in a mixture of vinegar, water, salt and sugar. Each individual vegetable (beets and carrots) must be grated, and the cucumber must be cut into strips. After this, you need to add the onions from the marinade. The mixture in which the onions were pickled should not be poured out.
Now you need to arrange all the ingredients on a plate in sectors: beets, grated cheese, carrots, potatoes and pickled onions. Place chicken fillet in the center. The finished salad can be sprinkled with chopped herbs. To make the dish even tastier, sauce is served along with it. It can be prepared from sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic and herbs.

Hi all! Today we will prepare a rather unusual, but very tasty Chafan salad. It consists of simple products, contains many vitamins and turns out very beautiful.

One of the main ingredients in this salad is meat. Choose the best beef, because it will determine whether the salad succeeds or not.
Cut the meat into very thin strips.

Heat a frying pan with sunflower oil over high heat and send the meat to fry. We lay out the pieces in batches at a distance from each other like this. Fry on one side until nicely browned, then turn over (using tongs or two forks), fry on the other side and remove to a separate plate.
To reduce the risk of meat spattering when frying, pat it dry with paper towels. It is also convenient to use a multicooker: thanks to the high sides, everything is much more convenient.
In this way we fry all the meat.

When all the pieces are covered on all sides with an appetizing crust, add a little water, spices and salt to them. Cover with a lid and simmer for 30-40 minutes over medium heat.
