I don’t always make it with herring; more often I buy smoked perch so as not to bother with the bones, but I like it better with herring - it has its own unique taste and adds an appetizing aroma.

In this recipe I use green onions, but if you don’t have them, onions will do, you just need to blanch them so that they don’t become too bitter and spoil the taste of the salad. And if you don’t like onions at all, then you shouldn’t add them.

So, let's prepare all the necessary ingredients for preparing a salad with smoked herring.

First, peel the fish from the skin and entrails, and separate the meat from the bones.

Cook rice according to package instructions and cool.

Ingredients:

  • herring – 3 pieces;
  • water – 1 liter;
  • salt – 100 grams;
  • sugar – 1 tablespoon;
  • bay leaf – 2 leaves;
  • black peppercorns - to taste.

Preparation:

  1. Peel the herring, remove the insides, rinse inside and out.
  2. Prepare the marinade: put all the spices in a saucepan with water, put on fire, boil for several minutes, let cool.
  3. Immerse the carcasses in the marinade and refrigerate for 4 hours.
  4. Remove from the brine, drain and dry in the open air for about an hour.
  5. Place in a cold smoker and smoke for 24 hours at a temperature of about 25°.

  • Smoked herring – 1 piece;
  • Egg – 2 pcs;
  • Potatoes – 5 pcs;
  • Cucumber – 1 piece;
  • Tomato – 1 piece;
  • Radish – 100 g;
  • Dill, parsley – 1 bunch;
  • Green onion – 1 bunch;
  • Lemon – 0.5 pcs;
  • Sunflower oil – 3 tbsp;
  • Soy sauce – 2 tbsp;
  • Mustard – 1 tbsp;

How to prepare salad with herring

  1. Peel, boil and cool the potatoes. Cut into thin semicircles.
  2. Boil the eggs, cool in cold water, peel and cut into half rings.
  3. We clean the herring from skin and bones. Cut into thin long pieces crosswise.
  4. We wash cucumbers, tomatoes and radishes and cut them into the same semicircles.
  5. Wash the green onions, dill and parsley thoroughly and finely chop them.
  6. To prepare the dressing, whisk together lemon juice, soy sauce, sunflower oil, salt, and mustard.
  7. Pour the resulting dressing over the salad.
  8. Serve in a beautiful salad bowl, garnished with chopped herbs.

Step-by-step preparation of the dish

Remove skin and bones from the herring. Cut into small slices. Set aside for now. Take beets, potatoes and carrots. Wash off dirt thoroughly. Then boil each product separately. Cool and peel. Then grate each vegetable separately. Now prepare the onions. Peel it and chop it finely. Take a small bowl and add onions. Pour boiling water over it. Add vinegar. Mix thoroughly. Leave for fifteen minutes to remove the bitterness from the onion. Then drain the water. Wash the apples, peel them, remove the core and seeds. Grate and immediately mix with onion so that the apple mass does not darken. Season this mixture with mayonnaise. And start laying out the herring salad in layers:

  • potato;
  • herring;
  • a mixture of apples and onions;
  • carrot;
  • beet.

Salt each layer and coat with mayonnaise. Place the herring salad in the refrigerator. The dish will be ready in a couple of hours!

Ingredients

  • Smoked herring – 500 g;
  • Large carrots – 1 piece;
  • Chicken eggs - 4 pcs;
  • Onions – 2 pcs;
  • Canned green peas – 3 tbsp;
  • Mandarin – 1 piece;
  • Green onion – 50 g;
  • Mayonnaise - to taste;
  • Salt - to taste.

How to make salad with herring

  1. Boil the carrots until tender, cool, and chop.
  2. Boil the eggs, cool in cold water, grate on a coarse grater.
  3. We clean the herring, separate the bones, and chop finely.
  4. Peel the onion and cut into thin half rings. Pour boiling water over it for a couple of minutes to get rid of excess bitterness.
  5. Peel the tangerine and divide it into slices.
  6. Place in a salad bowl in layers: the first layer is pieces of herring.
  7. The second layer is onion.
  8. The third layer is carrots (leave a little for decoration). You can add a little salt. Coat with mayonnaise.
  9. The fourth layer is eggs. You can also add a little salt.
  10. Top with mayonnaise, green peas, green onions, carrots, and tangerine slices.

With smoked pink salmon and potatoes

Pink salmon can be cold, hot smoked or salted. It is not difficult to cut fish: remove the long bones, select small bones with tweezers, and separate the meat from the skin. Smoked fish has a salty taste, so salting the salad is not always necessary. Required Products:

  • 300 g potatoes;
  • 150 g carrots;
  • 5 eggs;
  • 150 g onion;

The classic Mimosa recipe is prepared with canned fish, but smoked fish surpasses even the most expensive canned fish in taste.

Ingredients:

  • lightly salted salmon – 50 g;
  • hot smoked pink salmon – 200 g;
  • eggs – 3 pcs.;
  • potatoes - 2 tubers;
  • carrots – 1 large;
  • shallot – 1 onion;
  • mayonnaise – 150 g;
  • cream with fat content over 30% - 100 g;
  • horseradish – 1 tsp;
  • dill greens;
  • salt - to taste.

Boil carrots and potatoes until cooked (without overcooking), cool, peel, and cut into very small cubes. Finely chop the onion.

Ingredients:

Marinade for hot smoked fish

  • large herring – 3 pieces;
  • coarse salt - 2 heaped tablespoons;
  • ground black pepper to taste.

Preparation:

  1. Clean the fish, gut it, rinse it.
  2. Rub salt and pepper on all sides and inside and wrap each in a separate napkin.
  3. Place the carcasses in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
  4. Remove the herring from the refrigerator, rinse, wipe with a napkin and let dry.
  5. Prepare a hot smoked smokehouse outside. Place wood chips on the bottom. Place a grease tray on top.
  6. Place the carcasses on top of the grill so that they do not touch each other, and close with the lid.
  7. Light the fire and smoke the herring for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the smoker from the heat and leave the fish in it until it cools completely.
