Secrets of making pasta with canned tuna

To prepare tasty, non-sticky, aromatic pasta with canned fish, you should consider a few simple rules for preparing this dish.

  1. Pasta with canned tuna involves preparing long noodles or spaghetti, but you can also use other types of pasta in the dish. “Shells,” “bows,” and green or black pasta look especially beautiful on the table in the sauce.
  2. When choosing pasta for your treat, we recommend purchasing those made from whole grain flour (indicated on product packages). This type of pasta contains the maximum amount of fiber and is suitable for consumption even by those who adhere to some kind of diet or proper nutrition. In addition, such products do not fall apart during cooking and do not stick together into mush, like standard “Extra” class products.
  3. When preparing spaghetti for this dish, it is better to undercook it than to overcook it. According to the tradition of Italian masters, the pasta should be a little fragile and not too soft.
  4. In this case, do not rinse the pasta with cold water; you will ruin its true taste and the structure necessary for the dish.
  5. You can add absolutely any spices, seasonings and herbs to your pasta sauce; here you can always move away from classic recipes and add some of your own twist. Basil, tarragon, parsley, dill, lettuce, arugula, nutmeg, etc. are perfectly combined in such dishes.

How to make diet tuna pasta

Pasta with canned tuna is a very satisfying and nutritious dish, but at the same time, oddly enough, it has a low calorie content - only 139 kcal per 100 g. This is due to the fact that the proteins that fish is rich in and complex carbohydrates that enter the body from pasta are digested very slowly in the intestines, providing us with a feeling of fullness for a long time. And this dish does not contain much fat, which is the main source of calories.

Therefore, you can eat tuna pasta every day without harm to your health and figure. However, this statement only holds true when using pasta made from durum wheat, which contains fewer calories and more healthy fiber than pasta made from bread flour. In addition, you can reduce the calorie content of this dish if you cook it without adding vegetable oil, with minimal fat sour cream (10%) and a small amount of cheese.

Cooking features and recommendations

The following tips will help make the dish much tastier and healthier:

  • When purchasing canned food for preparing pasta with sauce, you should pay attention to the composition of the product. Tuna can be canned in its own juice or oil. In the first case, the calorie content of fish is 96 kcal per 100 grams, and in the second - 230 kcal. Accordingly, a dish prepared from tuna in its own juice will be less high in calories, one might even say that it is dietary.
  • Particular attention should be paid to spices, and especially salt. The fact is that canned tuna has a fairly rich taste. Therefore, if you add salt to pasta or cream, the dish will turn out to be too salty.
  • To prepare pasta, you should choose pasta made only from durum wheat and cook it until al dente. The dish will turn out better.
