Preparation of Sunflower salad:

First of all, boil the potatoes until fully cooked, check the readiness with a knife or skewer. Let cool at room temperature, peel and finely cut into cubes. Boil the eggs hard, that is, cook them for at least 8 minutes after the water boils. Cool the finished eggs in cold water and remove the shells, then grate them separately from each other, the whites on a coarse grater, and the yolks on a fine grater.

Chop the green onions with a knife. Open the can of cod liver and place it on a plate, then mash thoroughly with a fork until smooth. Since the filling of canned food is always different, you can stock up on another jar of cod in advance.

To lay out the Sunflower salad in layers, you need to take a large flat dish. Products are sequentially laid out on it. The first layer is boiled potatoes, cut into cubes; it should be generously greased with mayonnaise and sprinkled with chopped green onions on top. The mashed cod liver is carefully placed on top of the onion. Next, pour egg white onto the cod and lightly grease it with mayonnaise. Next comes the turn of grated yolks.

The salad base is ready, now you can show your creativity and imagination and decorate the salad as you like. You can, for example, apply a mayonnaise mesh to the surface of the salad and put half an olive in each hole, or cut the olives into strips and place them directly on the yolk layer. The salad needs to stand for at least an hour, this is necessary for it to soak. After this, before serving, chips in the form of petals are inserted along the edge of the salad.

As you can see, the Sunflower salad does not have a constant composition and design. You can take your favorite salad, even if it is Olivier salad or herring under a fur coat, lay it in layers on a dish and decorate it in one of the suggested ways, using corn, peeled seeds or olives. The main thing is not to forget about the petals from the chips; this is perhaps the only common element for all versions of the Sunflower salad. You can spend a little more time and add lots of small decorations, like little flowers or insects from the vegetables, but the effect the salad will have on your guests is well worth it.

To prepare it you will need:

  • one medium onion
  • 250 g champignons
  • one carrot
  • 100 – 150 g ham
  • 3 eggs
  • jar of canned sweet corn
  • jar of black olives

In this case, the ingredients needed are a few boiled potatoes, half a kilo of tongue, 4 eggs, 4 pickled cucumbers, green onions, chips. The delicacy without mushrooms is laid out on a dish in the following sequence:

  1. Grated potatoes
  2. Finely chopped cucumbers
  3. Tongue cut into strips (if you don’t have it, you can use lean pork or beef)
  4. Grated eggs.

Grease each layer with sauce made from mayonnaise and sour cream in equal proportions. Place the chips in a circle, imitating sunflower petals, and finish the salad with olive slices and green onions.

Design options

Option with sprats. The taste of this dish is no less original than all the previous ones. It will be appreciated by lovers of fish dishes. You will need: a can of sprats, half a can of corn, 3 medium-sized boiled potatoes, 150 g of cheese, 4 eggs, 1 onion, chips and olives for decoration, mayonnaise for dressing. The dish is prepared in layers with the following sequence:

  1. Grated eggs
  2. Grated potatoes
  3. Sprats mashed with a fork
  4. Finely chopped lettuce (red) onion
  5. Grated cheese
  6. Mashed yolk.

Grains of canned sweet corn are evenly laid out on top of the chicken yolk. Do not forget to thoroughly coat each layer with mayonnaise. At the end, the finished dish must be decorated with chips and chopped olives, turning it into a sunflower.

Required Products:

  • 300 gr. boiled chicken fillet
  • 200 gr. fresh champignons
  • 200 gr. hard cheese
  • 5 boiled eggs
  • 1 boiled carrot
  • 50 gr. olives (or black olives) without pits
  • Sunflower seeds, shelled to taste
  • 20 gr. any chips for decoration
  • 300 gr. mayonnaise
  • Salt
  • 20 ml vegetable oil for frying

Lay the salad in layers, cover each layer with mayonnaise

  1. Diced chicken fillet
  2. Mushrooms fried with onions
  3. Grated carrots
  4. Finely chopped eggs
  5. Coarsely grated cheese
  6. Olives, halved
  7. Place the finished salad in the refrigerator for 2 hours so that the layers are soaked

Sunflower salad with smoked chicken and pineapple

Salad composition:

  • 400 gr. smoked chicken fillet
  • 5 medium tomatoes
  • 1 can canned corn
  • 1 can canned pineapple pieces
  • 3 boiled chicken yolks
  • 150 gr. mayonnaise
  • For decoration: cherry tomatoes, pitted olives, chips

Prepare the salad as usual

  1. Cut the chicken fillet into cubes, cover with a grid of sauce
  2. Pour boiling water over tomatoes, remove skin, cut into cubes
  3. Layer – corn, layer of mayonnaise
  4. Next layer – pineapples, mayonnaise
  5. Crumble the top layer of yolks
  6. When serving, garnish the salad with olives, tomatoes and chips

Tips for choosing products and original serving of Sunflower salad

It is well known that even with the same recipe, dishes can differ in taste nuances. This has to do with the choice of products. The ingredients for sunflower salad with chicken and chips are no exception. Here are some recommendations on how to make it even tastier:

  • choose soft chicken fillet without skin;
  • after you have cut the fillet into pieces, cover them with a napkin and beat them a little - the chicken meat will become more tender;
  • to add spice to the salad, use pickled champignons;
  • if you like the taste of pickled onions, you can add not one, but three tablespoons of vinegar to the chopped vegetable and leave in the marinade for 20-30 minutes;
