A hot drink with orange fruits quickly quenches thirst, wonderfully tones the body and energizes you. There are many recipes for sea buckthorn tea, since the taste of the berry is combined with ginger, quince, cranberry, orange and other products. Before we get acquainted with the options for preparing the drink, we will find out what benefits it brings to the body and how to properly prepare the product.

Useful properties of sea buckthorn

At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, Chinese athletes were required to be given sea buckthorn tea. In China and Tibet, where this plant is cultivated in entire plantations, its beneficial qualities have been known since ancient times.

Indeed, sea buckthorn is a real “vitamin bomb” that increases the body’s energy potential. Per 100 grams of berries it contains ten times more vitamin C than lemon. Vitamins E, A, K and group B were found in its composition in record quantities.

All parts of this plant are suitable for medicinal purposes - fruits, leaves, roots, bark.

The amount of antioxidants, pectins and other vital substances in sea buckthorn is so great that it was included in the list of mandatory means for treating victims of the Chernobyl disaster.

There are few contraindications to the use of sea buckthorn: individual intolerance, cholecystitis and diseases associated with increased acidity of the gastrointestinal tract.

Beneficial properties of sea buckthorn tea

In order to prepare sea buckthorn tea, the benefits of which are confirmed by research, the berries and leaves of the plant are used. But the first option is the most common. They are rich in composition and contain essential nutrients for a healthy life. The recipes below describe the brewing process in detail.

Regular consumption of the drink helps normalize the functioning of the stomach and intestines and stabilizes the microflora. It also lowers cholesterol levels. How to brew and drink ginger tea?

The drink is indispensable in cold weather to activate the body's defenses. At this time, you can replace regular tea and coffee with sea buckthorn tea, the recipe for which is offered below. Sea buckthorn tea is also prescribed as an additional remedy in the treatment of vitamin deficiency.

Don’t forget about the benefits of sea buckthorn tea for the nervous system. Life in a big city and high responsibility at work cause constant stress. Sea buckthorn tea, the recipe for which is quite simple, improves mood and reduces the effect of stress on the nervous system.

Classic recipe

The classic recipe for sea buckthorn tea is as laconic as a Chinese painting. There is nothing superfluous in his taste - just background and accent.

IngredientsQuantity
Black tea5 teaspoons
Fresh or frozen sea buckthorn berries300 grams
Water1 liter

Clean berries must be crushed well. You will have to do this manually, forgetting about the blender for a while, since the metal knives deteriorate from the sea buckthorn juice, and the fruits themselves lose some of their benefits.

The cooking diagram looks like this:

  1. Place half the volume of berries in a ceramic mortar or other container.
  2. Using a wooden or plastic muddler, mash the sea buckthorn into a puree. Pass the mixture through a sieve to remove the pits and skins.
  3. Place puree, whole berries, and dry tea into a teapot.
  4. Pour boiling water over it.
  5. Cover and allow the drink to steep and develop flavors for 15 minutes.

It is preferable to pour the tea into cups through a strainer.

Sea buckthorn tea with spices

Based on the basic recipe, you can experiment, giving the drink different shades using spices. One of the win-win options has the following composition:

IngredientsQuantity
Black tea5 teaspoons
Fresh or frozen sea buckthorn berries300 grams
Water1 liter
Star anise (anise)3 pieces
Carnation3 pieces

Preparing the fruit and brewing looks exactly the same as in the previous recipe. You can serve this tea with honey. The main thing is not to overpower the subtle oriental aroma of spices with a strong honey taste.

Simple principles for collecting valuable berries

Sea buckthorn fruits reach full maturity in mid-autumn. It is during this period that the berries begin to be picked. Since they grow on thorny branches, it is better to do this with gloves. The stalks are cut using a special scraper or a wire loop.

It is better to harvest ripe sea buckthorn after the first frost. An oilcloth or an old blanket is spread under the tree. Then the branches with berries drop. Most of them will fall straight into the "trap". The rest are cut by hand. When the harvest is harvested, they begin to prepare the healing drink.

For medicinal potions, not only fresh berries are used, but also dried, frozen and dried.

How to brew tea with sea buckthorn and honey

Sea buckthorn goes well with honey on its own, without spices. But this tea is brewed a little differently. For two servings you will need:

IngredientsQuantity
Black tea3 teaspoons
Fresh or frozen sea buckthorn berries150 grams
Water0.5 liters
Honeytaste

First you need to crush the sea buckthorn with a muddler, rub it through a sieve and separately brew the perfect black tea:

  1. Warm up the teapot thoroughly.
  2. Pour dry tea into it.
  3. Fill with water heated to a temperature of +95⁰С.

Everything else is done upon submission. A few teaspoons of sea buckthorn puree are placed in a cup, filled with tea, and honey is added.

This option for preparing sea buckthorn tea allows you to best preserve all the beneficial properties of its ingredients.

Let's look at how to prepare sea buckthorn teas at home.

Classic recipe

The simplest recipe for sea buckthorn tea:

  • The berries are crushed until smooth in a separate container.
  • Black (green or other) tea is brewed in a teapot at the rate of a teaspoon of tea leaves per cup.
  • Place sea buckthorn puree into cups (a spoonful or more, as you like).
  • Add brewed tea there.

Add sugar or honey to taste.

Prepared almost according to the “classic” recipe:

  1. Sea buckthorn berries are mashed.
  2. Pour boiling water over a clean, dry thermos.
  3. Place sea buckthorn puree there - two or three tablespoons per 250-300 ml of water.
  4. Fill with hot water.
  5. Close the lid of the thermos tightly.

Leave to brew for an hour and a half. Add sugar or honey before use.

The recipe for making tea from frozen sea buckthorn depends on the conditions of the raw materials:

  • Whole berries, without defrosting, are poured with boiling water (a little, just to cover the fruits). After a few minutes, knead, add hot water to the cup to the desired volume. For 2-3 teaspoons this is 150-170 ml of water.
  • Frozen sea buckthorn puree is poured with hot water, after a few minutes it is topped up to the required volume.

The mixture is infused for 5-10 minutes, then sweetened. You can add black, green or other tea to the sea buckthorn drink.

Some people prefer the natural defrosting method. That is, leave the frozen puree or berries at room temperature until the result is achieved, then act in accordance with the recipe.

The recipe for making honey-sea buckthorn tea is simple:

  1. Fresh berries are crushed to puree, frozen ones are first poured with boiling water for 13-15 minutes.
  2. In a separate teapot, brew black tea as usual (for a maximum of 10 minutes).
  3. Add crushed berries and honey to it.
  4. Leave the drink to infuse.
  5. After 10 minutes, pour into cups.

For 250 ml of boiling water you need one tablespoon of dry tea and honey, 100 g of sea buckthorn fruit. Honey can be added separately to the cup.

Ivan tea (also known as fireweed) is a proven medicinal plant. The name speaks about its main purpose: to be a “infuser” for tea. The recipe is simple: take equal parts of dried fireweed leaf and mashed sea buckthorn berries (two teaspoons per half liter of water). Fill with hot water and leave.

You can collect fireweed leaves yourself or buy them at a pharmacy.

A simple, delicious, fragrant recipe. The aroma is created by raspberries and black currant leaves. For two cups you will need a handful of raspberries (50-55 g), 2-3 teaspoons of sea buckthorn berries, 2-3 black currant leaves.

  • Raspberries and sea buckthorn are crushed by hand.
  • Place in a thermos, adding washed currant leaves.
  • Fill everything with hot water.
  • After 18-20 minutes, the berry drink is poured into cups.
  • Add sugar or honey if desired.

The “sea buckthorn-raspberry” duet is a storehouse of vitamins. At the same time, it protects the body from viruses and insomnia.
