The kitchen is a room that is filled with incredibly delicious aromas every day, especially when it comes to a dish like orange pie.
Citrus fruits are one of the most vibrant flavors, so their zest or a few drops of concentrate are used to embellish any dough. And if the rest of the fruit is used, the baked goods will turn out very aromatic, and most importantly, tasty. On this topic:

There are a huge number of simple recipes for orange pie. Each of them is unique, and they are connected by the incredible smell of citrus fruits combined with delicate dough. Even a novice cook can prepare an orange dessert. But to make your baked goods as delicious as possible, you must adhere to several rules:
- The zest is the orange part of the rind. The white part is very bitter, so it is used only in the case of crusts drenched in syrup.
- You can even squeeze orange juice by hand. To do this, roll the fruit on the table, lightly pressing on it with your palm.
- Remove the seeds from the pulp first. A bone that accidentally gets into the pie will be an unpleasant surprise.
Most often, biscuits are made with citrus fruits, but shortcake with oranges also looks good. Orange fruits go well with nuts, honey, cinnamon and fruit, so they can be used as a base for sponge cakes, or as a filling or decoration for a cake.
Orange Lemon Cake
Fans of citrus desserts will definitely appreciate the recipe for a delicious lemon-orange pie, as in the photo. Its bright, rich aroma will charge you with vigor and good mood for the whole day, and its magical taste will make you forget about everything, giving you moments of real pleasure.
Ingredients for the dough:
- Flour – 220 g;
- Butter – 100 g;
- Low-fat sour cream – 100 g;
- Baking powder – ½ tsp;
- Salt – a pinch.
For filling:
- Oranges – 2 pcs;
- Lemon – 1 piece;
- Sugar – 130 g.
The sweet and juicy pulp of oranges is widely used in cooking. Many housewives have no idea how many delicious desserts can be made with these sunny fruits. The pulp, juice and zest of oranges are added to the filling or dough, making the baked goods especially aromatic, and thinly sliced fruit slices are good to use as a decoration for the finished product. Scientists say that even with heat treatment, fruits practically do not lose their beneficial properties, which means you can get a portion of vitamins by enjoying a piece of freshly baked pie with orange filling.
Preparation:
- Chop the cold butter into small pieces.
- Mix flour with baking powder, add butter and quickly grind the ingredients into crumbs, then add sour cream to them.
- After kneading the soft dough, divide it into two parts. Place one in a low baking dish, and put the second in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
- Wash the fruits and dry them. Remove the zest from them, remove the bitter white layer and seeds.
- Using a blender, grind the pulp and zest of citrus fruits with sugar and fill the mold with the dough.
- Remove the remaining dough from the refrigerator and, after rolling it out thinly, cover the orange-lemon filling with it. Pinch the edges.
- In an oven preheated to 180°C, the pie will bake for about 40 minutes.
Decorate the finished product with powdered sugar, coconut flakes or chocolate glaze.
Step-by-step recipe with photos
I suggest you please yourself and your loved ones with simple baked goods with a twist. The pie is made from shortcrust pastry. It turns out light and crumbly. And the “highlight” is orange zest and chocolate. The orange can be replaced with lemon or even several lemons. Both milk and bitter chocolate are suitable.
Shortbread pie with orange zest and chocolate is prepared in no time, it requires virtually no effort, except that you have to tinker with the chocolate - you need to melt it. And he requires few products.
First you need to combine flour, sugar and butter cut into large pieces in a bowl. Pre-hold the oil for 5 minutes at room temperature.
Now you need to turn the whole mass into crumbs. It is classically customary to chop butter and flour with a knife. It's long and difficult.
You can beat for a few minutes with a stand mixer. This is easier. The main thing is to make sure that the dough does not start to stick together. Or you can, as in this recipe, grind all the ingredients with your hands. It's fast and doesn't require any additional equipment.
The dough should turn into a crumbly mass.
But if you squeeze it with your fingers, it will not completely crumble in your hands, but will remain in the shape of a fist, crumbling at the edges. The construction is quite fragile.
Now you should grate the zest of half an orange directly into the dough. And stir everything.
The dough is ready. All that remains is to put it in a form previously covered with parchment. No need to lubricate. Press the mass with your fingers. But gently, don't be overzealous.
Pierce the workpiece with a fork along the entire diameter. This must be done carefully, the dough is very fragile.
Bake the pie at 190 degrees for about 10 minutes. Focus on the browned top.
Five minutes before the end of cooking, start heating the chocolate.
You can melt the chocolate in a water bath. To do this, pour water into a regular saucepan - I have a layer of about 3 cm - then place a glass dish on top of the saucepan - I have a salad bowl. Turn the heat to medium. Place chocolate in a glass bowl.
When it starts to melt, you can stir.
In order to decorate the cake with melted chocolate, you need to dip a spoon into the chocolate mixture, like a brush into paint. And then quickly stir with a spoon in the air above the baked goods (movements are like stirring sugar in tea, but quickly). Small streams will fall on the cake.
It will turn out like this.
If you don't want to bother with the chocolate, just grate it the old fashioned way. But painting sweet streaks on a cake is such an exciting and magical process. I still advise you to try it once. Besides, if you get the hang of it, you can decorate any simple pie with this pattern (and this recipe is just that) and the baked goods will turn out to be a real masterpiece. Especially if you gain experience. For example, this was the first time I decorated baked goods. And I was so carried away by the process that I couldn’t stop in time. That's why there were too many lines. Less could have been done. But I still like it.
Shortbread cake with orange zest can be baked without chocolate at all. But then I advise you to double the amount of sugar.
The final touch is to grate the remaining orange zest onto the cake.
This is how delicious it turned out. The main thing is that everything is very simple. Twenty minutes for the whole process, not including decoration. I ate everything quickly.

Orange zest is a natural flavoring that enhances the flavor of any baked product. Containing a record amount of valuable essential oils, it is incredibly beneficial for our body. To remove the zest, the fruit must be thoroughly washed under running water and then doused with boiling water. This technique will remove the wax coating that is used on citrus fruits to increase the shelf life. The zest will not be bitter if you remove it in a thin layer without touching the white part. The easiest way to do this is with a fine grater or a special knife for peeling vegetables.
Preparation:
- Turn on the oven to heat up, setting the temperature to 200° C.
- Wash the oranges, grate the zest from one fruit on a fine grater, and squeeze the juice from the pulp.
- Squeeze the juice from half a lemon into a small bowl and mix it with the orange.
- Cut the remaining oranges into thin slices.
- Melt butter in any convenient way.
- Beat it with sugar and eggs so that the resulting mass looks like cream.
- Add grated zest, stir everything thoroughly.
- Add flour mixed with remaining dry ingredients.
- Pour the dough into the baking dish.
- Place it in the oven for 15 minutes, then cook for about half an hour, reducing the temperature to 170°C.
- Pour orange-lemon juice into a small ladle, add sugar and orange slices.
- Bring the contents of the ladle to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and continue cooking for another 5–7 minutes.
- When the slices become translucent, remove them from the ladle using a slotted spoon, and cook the remaining syrup for another 10-15 minutes.
After removing the finished orange pie from the oven, apply hot syrup with a brush and carefully place the orange circles.

Quick and easy orange pie
I'm sure few of us have tried orange pie at least once in our lives. I tried it and was so impressed that today I am sharing the recipe with you. It's worth it, prepare it for the holiday.
Here's something, but I've never baked pies with orange before and didn't even think that it could be done. But on the eve of the New Year, I so wanted to plunge into the holiday atmosphere that I decided to treat myself to such a tasty treat. I’ll say right away: I plunged into the holiday atmosphere, and then enjoyed a long tea party with a delicious and aromatic pie. So I offer you a recipe on how to make a quick orange pie in a hurry.
Ingredients:
- Kefir – 200 grams
- Sugar – 120 grams
- Eggs – 2 pieces
- Soda - 1 teaspoon
- Flour - 2 cups
- Orange – 1 piece
How to cook
Prepare all the necessary ingredients. I sifted the flour in advance to not only remove possible lumps, but also to saturate it with oxygen, resulting in even more fluffy baked goods. Pour soda, quenched with vinegar, into kefir. Stir and leave for a few minutes. Then add eggs and sugar and mix. Add flour in small portions, mixing it into the dough. So gradually add all the flour. The dough should be as thick as sponge cake. Peel the orange and cut into small pieces. Pour half the dough into a baking dish (I have a 23 cm diameter pan) and add orange slices. Pour the rest of the dough on top. Bake the pie in the oven for 30-40 minutes at 180 degrees. Bake until dry. Sprinkle the finished pie with powdered sugar and garnish with grated orange zest. Enjoy your tea!
Almond-orange Italian pie
How to make orange and almond pie
To use an orange in pie dough, you first need to boil it, so wash it thoroughly, put it in a pan of water and put it on the stove to cook, cook the orange for about 40 minutes until soft.
While the orange is cooking, prepare a baking dish. We use a baking ring, place it on foil with parchment, select the diameter of the pie pan to be 17 cm.
We wrap the edges of the foil tightly around the mold, grease the inside of the mold and the parchment with butter or vegetable oil and sprinkle with almond flour.
When the orange is cooked, take it out of the pan and cool it, then cut it into circles, then into pieces. Immediately turn on the oven and heat to 180 degrees C.
Place the orange slices in a blender, add half the sugar and a pinch of salt. Grind into a homogeneous mass. Transfer the crushed mass to a bowl. Then add a little orange liqueur and vanillin to the ground mass.
Add almond flour and mix.
Separate the yolks from the whites, add the rest of the sugar and beat until smooth and fluffy.
Transfer the beaten yolks into the almond-orange mixture and mix. Beat the whites into a stable fluffy mass until stable peaks form. Add the whites to the dough, gently mixing until combined. Transfer the dough to the prepared pan and place in the oven to bake. In 30 minutes, the almond-orange pie will be ready, and the aroma of oranges will spread throughout the house.
Let's make the filling for the homemade pie
Let's leave the pie in the mold for now and make a filling of apricot jam, for which we heat the jam over the fire along with orange liqueur. Carefully release the cake, which has not yet completely cooled, from the mold and immediately cover it with apricot jam.
Decorate the pie with almond petals.
After the cake has cooled, cut it and taste it. It has a very unusual taste and is very aromatic, if you haven’t tried it yet, be sure to bake it, I recommend it! Bon appetit!
