Meat pie made from puff pastry: recipes with photos

Meat pie dough

But first we need to make the correct puff pastry, which differs from the usual one in the absence of yeast in it. Is it good or bad? It's not for us to judge. There are simply housewives who love to cook using this product. Dough for meat pie can be prepared in different ways - choose any one you like or the most familiar. Let us give just one of the options as an example.

Ingredients: a glass of flour, a large saucer of homemade cottage cheese, a pack of butter (200 grams), salt. The cottage cheese should be tender and airy, without lumps. The flour must be sifted. Instead of butter, you can use high-quality margarine.

Mix all ingredients into a homogeneous mass. Add salt to taste (some people cook without salt at all). Then we beat the dough into a bun, wrap it in cling film and put it in the refrigerator. It should lie there for at least ten hours, but it can last for a day. Then we take it out of the refrigerator, divide it into parts and roll out cakes from them in order to make a meat pie from puff pastry.

Recipe 2 puff pastry pie with meat

I want to tell you about puff pastries with meat filling. I use fresh meat for this pie. You can replace it with minced meat. Any meat is suitable: pork, beef and even chicken or turkey fillet. I make my own puff pastry. I keep it in the freezer, taking out the required amount as needed. I’ll start telling you how to make pies by making puff pastry.

  • 750 g flour;
  • 1 full tbsp. Sahara;
  • 1 tsp salt;
  • 200 ml of any milk (warm);
  • yeast in granules one tsp. or 25 g live;
  • 1 egg;
  • 200 g cold margarine or butter.

For filling:

  • fresh or frozen meat 0.5 kg;
  • 2 medium onions;
  • 1 medium carrot;
  • 2 cloves of garlic;
  • hard cheese 100 g;
  • 1 egg;
  • vegetable oil (for frying);
  • spices, salt.

Stir sugar and yeast in milk or water.

Keep in a warm place for 20 minutes. During this time, pour flour onto the table. Rub hard margarine or butter directly into the flour with a grater. Mix with flour and chop into fine crumbs with a knife.

Break the egg into the yeast. Sprinkle salt. Mix everything with a fork or whisk. We collect the crumbs into a mound with a depression in the middle. Pour the yeast mixture into it.

Quickly knead into a soft, smooth dough. Wrap it in film and put it in the refrigerator for several hours.

Unused dough can be divided into portions and stored in the freezer.

Peel the carrots with three large graters. Finely chop the peeled onion. Cut the meat into small pieces or grind it using a meat grinder. Fry on all sides. Add vegetables to the meat. Simmer until done.

Add some salt, spices and chopped garlic. Add the chopped greens with a knife. Mix everything together and cool slightly. Separate the white from the yolk. Beat it a little with a whisk or a regular fork and add to the filling. Mix. Let's take the dough. Roll out each part with a rolling pin to the size of the future pie.

Grease a pie pan or baking sheet with oil or line with parchment. Transfer one part of the dough. Spread the filling in an even layer, leaving the edges empty.

Grate the cheese. Sprinkle them with the filling. Cover the pie with the second part of the dough. We pinch the edges. You can make one big pie. Or maybe two small ones. To do this, place a portion of meat filling on each rolled out piece of dough, closer to one edge. Cover with the empty half of the dough and seal the edges of each pie.

We make small cuts on top. Brush with beaten yolk using a fork. Cook in the oven for 45 minutes at 180° until nicely browned. Let the finished pie cool a little.

"Lazy"

The Lazy Puff Pastry Meat Pie truly lives up to its name. We will need: half a kilo of frozen store-bought puff pastry, half a kilo of minced beef or veal, two eggs, a carrot, an onion, a little vegetable oil for frying. A meat pie in a preheated oven can be prepared in 30-40 minutes.

Boil hard-boiled eggs, cut them into cubes. Finely chop the onion and carrots. Roll the dough into a baking dish. Prepare the filling. Fry onions and carrots in vegetable oil. Add the meat and fry until done, covered, in a frying pan. Just before the finale, we also throw eggs in there, season with spices and salt. Place the filling on the rolled out dough crust, placed on a baking sheet. We cover it with exactly the same cake. We pinch the edges to form a pie. We pierce the top crust with a fork in several places so that the cake does not “puff up”. Place the baking sheet with the pie in the oven. Bake for half an hour at approximately 180-200 degrees until done (check with a match). You can coat the top of the masterpiece with beaten egg some time before it is ready to form a golden brown crust. The meat pie is ready in the oven. Serve hot or cold. Goes well with sour cream, kefir, ayran.

Meat pie made from puff pastry with minced meat, recipe with step-by-step photos

Ingredients:

  • Frozen store-bought puff pastry – 1 sheet (350 g)
  • Meat (any variety) – 700 g
  • Sour cream – 100 ml
  • Onion – 1 piece
  • Egg – 1 piece
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Dried (or fresh) basil – 1 tablespoon
  • Salt, pepper, herbs and spices - to taste
  • Oil – for frying

In order to prepare any pie from ready-made puff pastry, the latter must be removed from the refrigerator and defrosted at room temperature. While the dough is defrosting, let's prepare the meat filling for our pie.

  1. Saute the peeled and chopped onion in half rings in oil in a frying pan until transparent.

  2. Remove fat and film from the meat, wash and dry. Finely chop or grind through a meat grinder, place in another hot frying pan and fry over high heat, stirring occasionally, for about 7 minutes until golden brown.

  3. In a frying pan with meat, put sautéed onions, sour cream, herbs, spices, finely chopped garlic, salt and basil.

  4. Mix the ingredients, set the temperature to medium and cook the filling for another 3-5 minutes. Then remove the pan from the heat, beat in the egg and quickly mix it. The pie filling is ready. It's time to take the test.

  5. The puff pastry is already defrosted at room temperature. Using a rolling pin, roll it out thinly so that the sheet is about 3 mm. Place the layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment.

  6. Distribute the meat filling in the middle of the layer.

  7. We turn the edges of the sheet towards each other, towards the middle of the product, and fix them on all sides, fastening them together.

    We make patterned cuts or punctures with a fork on the pie with a knife and grease its top with egg or butter so that the baked goods turn out golden brown.

  8. Place the formed pie in an oven preheated to 220°C for half an hour on the bottom shelf.

Cut the finished delicious, aromatic, satisfying, melt-in-your-mouth puff pastry pie with meat into portions and serve hot or warm to the table for the pleasure of the upcoming meal for your household.

Bon appetit!

Chicken pie with puff pastry meat

Ingredients: store-bought puff pastry – 500 grams, chicken legs – 600 grams, oyster mushrooms – 200 grams, two onions, egg, cream – half a glass, vegetable oil for frying, salt and pepper.

Fry the chicken parts until a crust forms. Then cool and remove the bones. You should get approximately 400 grams of clean meat. We cut it quite finely. Fry the mushrooms separately with onions and spices. Add meat and mix. Fill with cream. The filling is ready. Roll out the dough into two layers. The bottom one is slightly larger than the form in which we will bake our work of culinary art. Place one cake on a baking sheet, previously greased with oil. Place the filling on top. Then cover with the second part of the dough. We turn up the edges. Can be brushed with beaten egg. We make a hole in the middle for air outflow. Place the pie in the oven preheated to 180°C. Bake for thirty minutes. Serve warm, neatly cut into triangular pieces.

In a slow cooker

It’s even easier to prepare a meat pie in a slow cooker. It’s not for nothing that this device is popularly called a stove “for the lazy.” We deal with fillings in the same way as in previous recipes. The technology remains the same. We take store-bought dough or prepare it ourselves, according to the recipe given above. Generously grease the bottom of the multicooker with vegetable oil (preferably olive oil). Lay out the rolled out dough. Top with filling. Cover it all with another layer of dough. Align the edges and pinch. Turn on the “Heating” mode for about twenty minutes. After that, use the “Baking” mode for 60 minutes. The meat pie in the slow cooker is ready. A signal will tell us about this. Bon appetit everyone!

Puff pastry does not need to be advertised, and when it is mentioned, many people think of Napoleon cake with crispy layers and delicate cream. But this is not the only treat that can be prepared from it. For example, from puff pastry you can make cookies, pies, pizza, pies with various fillings and even meat in the dough.

The process of preparing puff pastry at home is labor-intensive and requires certain knowledge and skills, so even experienced housewives buy frozen dough in the supermarket in order to save time.

A pie whose base is puff pastry can be filled with various fillings: cottage cheese, fruits, meat (except game), vegetables, cheese, herbs, eggs, mushrooms and fish.

In this article we will talk about puff pastry pies with meat filling. Such pies are filled with raw or boiled meat, the only condition is that it is cut into small pieces or passed through a meat grinder. You can diversify the taste of the meat filling with such products as: onions, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, herbs, cheese, eggs, cream and spices.

Pie with chicken and mushrooms

Making a meat pie from ready-made puff pastry is not at all difficult. The dish turns out to be especially tasty if you use the classic combination of chicken and mushrooms as a filling.

Ingredients:

  • dough (480 g);
  • chicken fillet (380 g);
  • 2 onions;
  • mushrooms (190 g);
  • egg;
  • cream (130 g);
  • pepper;
  • vegetable oil;
  • salt.

Before you start cooking, you need to boil the fillet and fry the mushrooms along with the onions. Afterwards, grind the meat and mushrooms in a meat grinder. Salt the resulting minced meat and add spices. Season the meat and mushroom mixture with cream.

Now you can start shaping the pie. Remove the dough from the packaging and divide it into two parts. We roll each of them into a layer. Place the larger cake on a greased baking sheet and apply the filling on top, distributing it evenly over the surface. Place the second layer on top and fasten the edges of both cake layers together. Brush the surface of the pie with beaten egg and make small holes in it. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
