Lately I have tried many recipes for chicken marinades with soy sauce. Of all of them, my favorite is the chicken marinade with soy sauce and honey . Marinated chicken in this marinade turns out very tender, spicy and piquant.
The meat just melts in your mouth. This soy marinade, like any other types, is suitable for baking chicken in the oven and on the grill. Outdoors, you can cook chicken shish kebab in this marinade or bake legs and wings like a barbecue on a grill.

Chicken in honey-soy marinade baked in the oven
There is nothing complicated about baking chicken; preparing this dish is a pleasure! After all, you can constantly experiment with marinades and cooking methods and always get a tasty and appetizing dish for both the everyday table and the festive one. Today I propose to make a delicious marinade for chicken in the oven using soy sauce, honey and mustard.
Before baking the chicken, you need to completely defrost it and leave it at room temperature for a while. For cooking, you can use either a whole chicken carcass or legs, thighs or wings. A whole carcass needs to be marinated longer.
This amount of marinade is calculated for 1 medium chicken carcass weighing 1 - 1.3 kg.
Chicken with honey-lemon sauce
Chicken cooked in honey-lemon sauce acquires an unusual taste with a pleasant sourness. In addition, it is prepared completely simply and quickly.
Required components:
- chicken – 1 kg;
- lemon – 1 fruit;
- natural honey – 1 tbsp. l.;
- thyme – 1 pinch;
- butter – 50 g;
- pepper mixture – 1 tsp;
- garlic – 2 cloves;
- table salt - to taste.
Step-by-step preparation:
- Wash the carcass and dry it with paper napkins.
- Rub the chicken with salt and pepper and sprinkle with lemon zest.
- Melt the butter, pour in liquid honey, add chopped garlic, lemon juice and thyme.
- Rub the body of the chicken with the prepared sauce.
- Place it in a mold and place it in the oven, which is preheated to 190 degrees.
During baking, the crust will caramelize, as soon as it acquires a golden color, you can take it out. Typically, it takes 40-45 minutes to bake chicken in the oven.
Ingredients for preparing marinade for roasting chicken:
- Soy sauce 2 tbsp.
- Mustard 3 tsp.
- Honey 1 tsp.
- Garlic 3 cloves
- Khmeli suneli 2 tsp.
Recipe for chicken baked in soy-honey-mustard marinade:
1. Prepare the marinade: mix soy sauce, honey, mustard, chopped garlic, suneli hops in a bowl.
2. Wash the chicken and dry well. Season the carcass with salt and pepper, I used fresh ground pepper.
3. Coat the chicken with marinade on all sides and inside, cover and leave for several hours to marinate. If you are short on time, leave the chicken at room temperature - it will marinate faster. If you cook in the evening to bake in the morning, put it in the refrigerator.
4. Chicken can be baked in several ways. I like to bake many dishes, including poultry, in a glass baking dish - nothing burns in it, because... Glass baking dishes distribute heat fairly evenly. Chicken in this form is baked in its own juices. So, put the chicken in a glass baking dish (grease the dish a little with vegetable oil). You can tie the legs with thread before cooking - I think the finished chicken will look better this way. Cover the pan with the chicken as airtight as possible with foil. The foil will help keep the chicken juicy towards the end of cooking and will also prevent fat from splattering throughout the oven. Place the chicken in an oven preheated to 200 degrees and bake for about 1.5 hours, the time depends on the size of the chicken carcass (mine is 1.2 kg). You can check readiness by making a puncture in the thigh area - if clear juice comes out, then the chicken is ready. Let the chicken cool slightly, cut into portions and serve!
Other ways to bake chicken in the oven
On a baking sheet. Place the chicken on a large iron baking sheet and place chopped vegetables (potatoes, carrots, zucchini and other vegetables and even fruits) around the bird - in this case, you can immediately prepare not only the main dish, but also a side dish, which is very convenient. Don't forget to salt the vegetables. You can also bake chicken in a sleeve . This is convenient because the oven and baking sheet remain clean, nothing sticks or burns. But when baked in a sleeve, you won’t get an appetizing golden crust. Although, if you want to brown the chicken, you can do this by cutting a hole in the top of the sleeve 15 minutes before it’s ready. Another great way is to bake chicken in foil . The meat is tender and cooked well. To do this, you need to wrap the chicken tightly in foil and place it on a baking sheet, put it in a preheated oven and bake as usual.
And the marinade proposed in the recipe can be used not only for preparing the whole carcass, but also when you want to prepare chicken legs or diet chicken chops.
Chicken fillet dish
White poultry meat is a popular product for preparing a variety of delicious dishes. Marinated chicken fillet in soy sauce in the oven turns out especially tender and aromatic.
Ingredients:
- homemade sour cream - 50 g;
- soy sauce - 40 g;
- curry seasoning - 8 g;
- chicken fillet - 2 pcs.;
- vegetable oil;
- garlic cloves - up to 4 pcs.
Cooking method:
- We thoroughly wash the poultry meat, divide the breasts into two parts, and wipe with paper napkins. Let’s not be lazy about drying the chicken, otherwise we won’t be able to get the crunch of our favorite crust!
- Rub the fillet with a little salt and curry. This seasoning contains wonderful spices: coriander, mustard, nutmeg, cumin, hot pepper. Great composition!
- We make several shallow cuts in the meat and insert a piece of garlic into them. Combine sour cream and half the amount of soy sauce in a bowl. Coat the layers with the resulting mixture and leave for 1.5 hours in a closed container.
- We treat the baking sheet with vegetable oil, lay out the fillet, pour the remaining marinade onto it, bake for 40 minutes in the oven at 180 °C.
Serve the dish with a side dish of boiled buckwheat, vegetables, potatoes or pasta.
Chicken in honey-soy sauce in the oven
If you want to please your family or guests with a hearty and incredibly tasty meat dish, prepare baked chicken with soy sauce and honey. Believe me, it’s unlikely that anyone will refuse such a delicious rosy chicken. The recipe is very simple, and the result is simply amazing. The rosy and crispy crust, tender and juicy flesh will not leave any gourmet indifferent. Serve the baked chicken immediately after baking as an independent meat dish, or as an addition to vegetable and cereal side dishes.

The sauce, prepared with natural honey and citrus fruits, will make the chicken meat aromatic and give the crust an appetizing glossy shine. Most often, this dish is prepared for a festive table.
Required ingredients:
- whole chicken – 1 pc.;
- drinking water – 150 ml;
- vinegar essence - 2 tbsp. l.;
- lemon juice – 1 tbsp. l.;
- bee honey - 2 tbsp. l.;
- orange juice – 1 fruit;
- garlic – 2 cloves;
- vegetable oil – 2 tbsp. l.
- ground pepper and salt.
Preparation is carried out strictly according to the instructions:
- Wash the chicken carcass and dry it thoroughly.
- Mix acetic acid with water and pour this solution over the chicken.
- Chop the garlic cloves, mix with salt and pepper, and rub the carcass with it on the outside and inside.
- Leave to marinate for 12 hours.
- Wrap the chicken in foil, place in a mold and bake at 160 degrees.
- After an hour and a half, they take out the meat product, pour it over with sauce, which is made from lemon, orange juice, and bee honey.
- Place back in the oven and cook for another quarter of an hour.
Festive chicken with a delicious crust is ready, you can treat your guests.

How to cook whole baked chicken with soy sauce and honey in the oven
First you need to buy chilled chicken. Do not buy frozen meat, as the finished dish will not be as tasty - the food will be dry and tougher. When purchasing, pay attention to the appearance and smell.
Place fresh chicken in a colander. Remove the remaining feathers, clean the skin on the legs. Rinse thoroughly with cold water, inside and out. Use paper napkins to remove excess moisture.
Now, prepare the marinade. Add soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and honey into a convenient deep container. Mix with a spoon until a homogeneous consistency is formed.
Dip the chicken into the prepared marinade. Using a silicone brush, brush the sauce over the entire surface of the meat. If there are no special devices, you can do this with clean palms. Leave the chicken in the refrigerator for 5-6 hours. The meat needs to be turned over periodically so that it marinates evenly on all sides. If you don't have precious time, leave the chicken for at least 60 minutes.
Periodically open the oven and brush the meat with the marinade that is at the bottom of the pan. This will make the dish look more appetizing because it will brown on all sides. Baking time depends on the power of your oven and the size of the chicken. You can check the readiness of the dish by piercing the chicken with a fork in an inconspicuous place: if the juice is clear, the meat can be served. A reddish liquid indicates that the product is not ready yet.
A whole chicken baked in the oven in honey and soy sauce is ready. While the dish has not cooled, serve it to the table, garnished with sprigs of dill or parsley.
