*25 g of sugar is a tablespoon with a small heap. Accordingly, 100 g is 5 such spoons, 200 g is 10 spoons, etc.

From this table you can see that the classic ratio of oranges to lemons is 2:1. On the other hand, you can take these citruses in equal quantities or even in reverse proportion - 2 lemons and 2 large oranges.

Thanks to such experiments with tastes, you can get both a sweeter and more sour version. The balance can also be balanced by adding sugar or citric acid.

AT WHAT AGE CAN CITRUS FRUITS BE GIVEN TO CHILDREN?

There cannot be a definite answer here, because often any citrus fruits are generally contraindicated for children due to allergic reactions. On the other hand, oranges, lemons and tangerines are a source of pectin, fiber, vitamins and other useful substances.

  • sugar – 1 cup (200 g): you can use a little more or less.

Step 2. Grind the citruses using a meat grinder or blender, bring to a homogeneous consistency (like gruel), add a few tablespoons of water if necessary.

Step 4. Meanwhile, take another liter of water and dissolve all the sugar in it. Mix thoroughly until the grains dissolve completely.

Step 5. The last stage - combine both mixtures and filter the solution through a sieve, removing all the citrus pomace.

Homemade lemonade from oranges and lemons: hot method

The classic recipe described is the so-called cold method, when water at room temperature or even chilled liquid is used for cooking. Most often it is prepared in the summer, when you want to immediately get a pleasant soft drink.

And here is another “winter”, hot version of the drink. To prepare it you need to take the same ingredients, in the same quantities. However, this time we proceed like this:

Step 1. Place a saucepan with 2 liters of boiled or filtered water on the fire and bring to a boil.

Step 2. While it is heating up, peel 2 oranges and 1 lemon, cut the zest into small pieces.

Step 3. Throw them into boiling water, and at the same moment add sugar - also 1 glass.

Step 4. Mix thoroughly - the sugar should dissolve completely and quickly. But the skins should be boiled for no more than 5 minutes, after which they should be immediately removed with a slotted spoon, otherwise the lemonade will turn out to be quite bitter.

Step 5. Turn off the heat - let the liquid cool down. Meanwhile, cut the citrus pulp into pieces or slices, remove all the seeds, pass through a juicer or meat grinder to obtain juice.

Step 6. Add it to the rest of the liquid, let it cool, strain - and the drink is ready. If desired, you can also put the pan in the refrigerator so that the lemonade cools properly. Serve with pieces of fruit as a tropical cocktail.

The advantage of this version of homemade orange lemonade is that you can immediately get a hot drink that will perfectly warm you up on a winter evening. This lemonade also turns out to be very fragrant thanks to boiling the zest, which contains the main aromatic substances and essential oils of citrus fruits. Simply put, the pulp of an orange is its taste, and the zest is its aroma.

Step-by-step instructions in the video will help you prepare the drink using the hot method (proportions are given for 3 liters of ready-made lemonade).

Homemade hot lemonade: step-by-step recipe

Suppose we are preparing lemonade for a family - let us end up with 15 glasses of the finished drink, i.e. 3-liter jar (the table of ratios for other cases is given above). Then to prepare homemade lemonade with lemon and mint we will need the following ingredients:

  • 3-4 medium lemons;
  • sugar – 1.5 cups (this is 300 g);
  • mint - half a glass (this is 100-200 g).

Step 1. Wash the lemon and mint, remove the zest from the fruit. First, you need to pour boiling water over the lemon, then wipe it thoroughly and remove the zest with a housekeeper or a special knife.

Also at this stage, the white skin that covers the pulp is removed. And of course, don’t forget to get rid of all the seeds - they not only get caught on the tooth, but also tend to taste bitter.

Step 2. Meanwhile, let the sugar syrup boil - pour the entire amount of sugar into 1-2 glasses of water, cook over moderate heat, stirring until completely dissolved.

Step 3. While the syrup is being prepared, extract lemon juice using a squeezer, blender or meat grinder.

Step 4. You can put the remaining water in the refrigerator to cool for now.

Step 5. And then mix all the ingredients, cool again for half an hour and garnish with mint when serving.

HELPFUL ADVICE

For a more intense mint flavor, you can boil it with syrup and then remove all the sprigs. But we will still decorate with fresh herbs - they serve the drink perfectly and give it additional aroma.

The history of lemon drink

Lemonade gained great popularity in France at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. It was prepared from natural lemon juice and mineral waters, and sugar was added. Such ingredients were not available to everyone, and only members of the nobility could afford the refreshing drink.

The recipe for a lemon drink was brought to Russia by Peter I, a connoisseur of everything new. The local nobility liked the lemonade. The Tsar ordered “lemonade to be drunk at the assemblies,” and the Russian nobles happily carried out the autocrat’s orders.

In Soviet times, lemonade became a real national treasure. The drink was sold on tap and in bottles; it was also prepared at home and served to the table. Its main ingredients were lemons and sugar.

They started preparing orange lemonade at home later, and by accident, when they discovered that much less sugar, which was in short supply, needed to be added to the juice of this fruit.

Orange peel lemonade - an economical drink option

Another interesting recipe is homemade orange peel lemonade. Many housewives, when preparing fruit dishes, are in no hurry to throw orange peels into the trash, since they can be used when preparing orange lemonade at home. The recipe for this drink is similar to orange-lemon lemonade; you can also use the zest and peel of citrus fruits. What will it take to make lemonade from orange peels and the drink will be of no worse quality than the one sold in grocery stores.

  • peels of one or two medium oranges;
  • one liter of water;
  • sugar (at your discretion);
  • one third of a teaspoon of citric acid, or the juice of half a medium-sized lemon.

Homemade orange peel lemonade requires the following preparations. You will need a meat grinder to grind the skin of the fruit. The resulting mass is poured with boiled water and cooled to room temperature. Lemonade made from orange peels must be seasoned, so you will need to wait a day until the peel releases its juice and smell into the water. Citric acid is added to the drink filtered through cheesecloth; you can use the amount of sugar at your own discretion: everyone has a different taste, so you can solve the problem yourself.

The drink belongs to a number of primitive extracts of citrus fruits, but, nevertheless, the skin of oranges contains a number of vitamins that are most valuable for the human body and it cannot be said that lemonade is absolutely useless.

Recipes for making lemonade from oranges

Modern lemonade recipes are not limited to using only lemons. A drink made from orange is very popular; it is prepared at home using aromatic herbs, thyme and other spices. Every housewife can give her lemonade a special taste.

This not only has a positive effect on the taste, but also makes lemonade healthier. Whole citrus fruits will not fit into a blender or meat grinder, and cutting frozen fruits is very difficult. Therefore, before placing them in the freezer, you can cut them into rings or slices.

Lemonade with honey at home (video)

Homemade lemonade from lemons is prepared from fruits, sugar and water. If desired, in addition to lemon, you can add other ingredients to the drink - honey, ginger, mint, tarragon, and other fruits, berries and even vegetables.

The most important thing is to know the principle of preparation and the ratio of basic ingredients. We'll tell you about this right now.

It is clear that the main components of homemade lemonade are water, lemons and sugar. As additions or even substitutes for lemon, you can take other citrus fruits, namely lime. You just need to be careful with lime, because it is about 2 times sour than lemon: accordingly, you need to add it in smaller quantities.

The drink can also be supplemented with various fruits or berries:

  • apples;
  • peaches;
  • kiwi;
  • strawberry;
  • watermelon, etc.

It is useful to add a few leaves for flavor. They can also be used to decorate the finished drink when serving.

Of course, it is important to choose the exact ratio of ingredients, because everyone has different tastes. And besides, kids will probably want to try lemonade, for whom it is better to make a less rich drink, because excess citric acid is harmful to the stomach and other digestive organs.

Here is a table of ratios for different cases - how much lemon, water and sugar you need to take per glass, liter and other volumes of the drink. Of course, the presented values can only serve as a guide - the amount of lemons and sugar can be changed in either direction.

FOR THE SMALLEST

Kids will also not mind treating themselves to lemonade, but the most important question arises - at what age can they also be given a homemade drink. Citrus fruits are very beneficial for children and adults, but they contain quite a lot of acid. Therefore, you can start giving them only from 9-12 months.

It is important to take into account that a child may also be allergic to citrus fruits - everything is individual. Of course, a drink for the little ones should not be too sour, not too sweet and completely non-carbonated.

Benefits of orange juice for the body

Freshly squeezed orange juice at home tastes good and is very healthy. Its rich vitamin and mineral composition makes it indispensable for the prevention of autumn-spring vitamin deficiencies. The pectin contained in the peel has a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract and minimizes putrefactive processes in the stomach.

Regular consumption of orange lemonade strengthens the immune system, and citrus juice has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. It is recommended to include it in the diet of children and the elderly.

Ingredient Selection

To make lemonade from oranges at home, you need to stock up on the necessary products. First of all, this is, of course, fresh fruit.

When buying oranges for homemade lemonade, you need to choose ripe, juicy fruits. You should not try to save money and take overripe, spoiled fruits, the price of which, as a rule, is reduced. This will not have the best effect on the taste and quality of the finished lemonade.

Also avoid packaged juices, canned fruits and other processed foods. Only fresh natural fruits will provide the drink with all the brightness of taste and benefits

. It should not be confused with recipes that use frozen fruit.

Bottom line

The high content of vitamin C makes it indispensable for the prevention of seasonal vitamin deficiencies, and helps protect against colds in the winter.

Surely you know that store-bought lemonade is not always a healthy drink. Various sweeteners, preservatives and stabilizers may not have the best effect on health. But you shouldn’t deny yourself soft drinks in hot weather. A wonderful option would be homemade orange lemonade, which even an inexperienced housewife can prepare. Lemon-orange lemonade: hot method

Traditionally, lemonade is prepared cold, but in cooking there is another way to create a summer drink - hot. The process of making it will take no more time than a regular cold one.

Vitamins and other beneficial substances from lemonade with orange and lemon will not be lost due to hot preparation, since citrus juice will not be heat-treated. Only fruit skins will be cooked. Read the recipe for more details on preparation.

Ingredients

  • Orange – 2 pcs.;
  • Still water – 3 l;
  • Lemon – 2 pcs.;
  • Sugar – 150 g;

Food preparation

Since our main ingredients are citrus fruits, they need to be carefully prepared for the processing process.

  • First, wash the fruits under running water; it is advisable to also brush them or simply pour boiling water over them.
  • Next, wipe the lemons and oranges with a paper towel.
  • We clean citrus fruits from skins, white pulp and seeds.

Making lemonade

  1. Cut the peeled fruits into slices or small pieces (whichever is more convenient for you) and grind them in a meat grinder.
  2. You can use a blender or juicer to process lemons and oranges. But then (if you use a juicer) you shouldn’t peel the citrus fruits and chop them into pieces. You just need to cut each fruit into 2 halves and squeeze the juice out of them one by one.
  3. Cut citrus peels into medium-sized strips.

How to make syrup

Prepare the syrup for lemon-orange lemonade:

  • Fill the pan with water not to the top and put it on the fire;
  • boil water, and only then add sugar and chopped zest into the boiling water;
  • let the drink boil again;
  • Boil the skins in water for no more than 4-6 minutes, then remove them from the pan. If you let the peels of citrus fruits sit too long, the future lemonade will taste bitter.
  1. Add freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice to the boiled syrup, then mix it thoroughly.
  2. Be sure to filter the finished lemonade through cheesecloth (use a double layer).
  3. Place the orange-lemon drink in the refrigerator or any other cool place to cool.
  4. When the lemonade has cooled, serve it in portions to the table.

To make it beautiful and tasty, you can add a couple of ice cubes, a slice of orange, lemon, lime or even grapefruit to the glass. The drink will turn out to be completely exotic if you garnish it with a sprig of tarragon or mint.

Additions to the lemonade recipe

  1. To make lemonade from oranges and lemons, you need to take only ripe fresh fruits. Stale, missing or overripe citrus fruits are not suitable, they will only spoil the taste of the drink.
  2. The proportions of the main ingredients, i.e. lemon and orange, may be different. In our recipe it is 2:2. But the ratio can be freely changed depending on your taste preferences.

Use more orange citrus fruits than yellow ones, but only if you prefer sweet drinks with a slight sourness. The ideal combination in this case would be: 2 oranges – 1 lemon. But with a large amount of cooking, you can take 3-4 oranges for 1 lemon.

If you like a distinctly sour taste, then you need to add more lemon than orange. In this case, the proportions will be as follows:

  • 2 lemons – 1 orange;
  • 3-4 lemons – 2 oranges;
  • 5-6 lemons – 3-4 oranges, etc. Everything will depend on the volume of the drink.

Freezing fruit for lemonade

You can also make lemonade from frozen fruit. The technology for their processing is the same as for ordinary fresh citrus fruits. To freeze food you need:

  • First, wash the fruit;
  • then pour boiling water over them;
  • and then place it in the freezer overnight.

The next day, oranges and lemons are processed using the same recipe technology that we gave above in the recipe.

Flavored juice of 4 oranges and lemon

There is another option for preparing the drink. How to make 9 liters of juice from 4 oranges? Supporters of everything natural can take a small lemon or half a large lemon instead of chemical lemon. By the way, lemon in this case can be easily replaced with lime. But pomelo, grapefruits and other citrus fruits are not suitable: they do not have the required degree of acidity and make the taste of the juice bitter.

Ingredients:

Four large oranges;

Nine liters of water;

Half a large lemon (or one small one);

700-800 grams of white sugar.

Cooking method:

    Wash oranges and lemon thoroughly, rinse with boiling water, then wipe thoroughly.

    After at least two hours, remove the fruits and cut them. You can make the preparation overnight and start preparing juice from frozen oranges and lemon in the morning.

    Prepare the base for the juice by chopping the fruit along with the peel. A detailed description of the possible options is given in the first recipe.

    How to make 9 liters of juice from 4 oranges? Pour a third of the water into the orange-lemon mixture and let it brew.

    After half an hour, remove the mixture with a slotted spoon or drain it into a colander.

    Filter the infusion to get rid of residual pulp particles and make the drink clearer.

    All that remains is to add the amount of sugar to the filtered juice, stir, and add another six liters of water.

    Pour the prepared juice into containers and let stand in the refrigerator.

How to improve a recipe

Sparkling and still water

You can prepare lemon-orange lemonade with or without gas. If you prefer a carbonated drink, then use sparkling or unsalted mineral water in the preparation.

For those who support non-carbonated drinks, it is better to add plain drinking water (necessarily boiled) or taken from the pump room to lemonade.

Add ice

A drink prepared at home should not be inferior in “freshness effect” to a store-bought one. And to do this, you need to add as much ice as possible to the lemonade.

Sometimes, as a decoration, a layer of colored ice is placed on the bottom of the glass, the end result is beautiful and fresh.

Natural raw materials

To make lemonade you need to use only natural ingredients. You should not add canned fruits, packaged juices and other products not in their natural form to the drink. Only freshly squeezed juices and slices of raw fruit can provide the drink with maximum pleasant taste and great benefits from consumption.
